DESCRIPTION:As people of faith\, it is in our blood to help. Be part of a lifesaving journey to save up to three lives with a 15-minute blood donation. \nThe MCC community has saved nearly 350 lives! This is our 23rd blood drive during Jumu’ah. Each blood drive has always been fully booked or near-fully booked! \nLet’s continue that trajectory at this blood drive and keep all our American Red Cross guests busy when they set up in our Banquet Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on a Friday. The donation process takes an additional 20-30 minutes because donors give two units of concentrated Red Blood Cells\, and your platelets and plasma are returned. \nBlood donors report feeling a sense of great satisfaction after making their blood donation. Why? Because helping others in need just feels good. \nIf you have visited India\, Pakistan\, or another high-risk malaria country and returned within the last 12 months\, you are not eligible to donate blood. \nEvery person who donates blood at MCC in 2023 will receive a voucher for a free meal at iniBurger – Gourmet Burgers in Pleasanton. These vouchers are generously donated by MCC congregation members Leeza and Abdullah Popal\, who own these establishments\, to encourage community and congregation participation. \nMCC Youth: If you are 16 to 18\, here is the donor requirements and parental authorization form link. \nOn the morning of the blood drive\, please complete the Rapid Pass online and bring the print-off to speed up the check-in process. Join Ustadha Shamira Chothia Ahmed for weekly halaqa on Friday nights.7 p.m. to 8 p.m. | Starts June 2 | Every Friday during Summer | To join virtually\, register at https://mcceastbay.org/zoom \n\n\n\nUstadha Shamira will resume The Beginning of Guidance series from last summer.Ustadha Shamira Chothia began her journey in seeking sacred knowledge at the women’s Dar-ul-Uloom Mu’eenal Islam seminary in South Africa and completed the five-year intensive ‘alima program at Ja’mia Al-Imam Muhammad Zakariyya\, one of Britain’s first and most renowned Islamic universities for women. There she was granted ijāzah (authorization) in Sahīh al-Bukhārī\, Sahīh al-Muslim\, Sunan at-Tirmidhī\, Sunan Abī Dāwūd\, Sunan an-Nasā’ī\, and Sunan Ibn Mājah. Thereafter\, she continued her Arabic and Qur’anic studies in Damascus\, Syria\, where she obtained an ijāzah in Tajwīd of the Ḥafṣ recitation from the late eminent Syrian scholar Shaykh Ḥasan al-Kurdī. Ustadha Shamira is a co-founder of The Rahmah Foundation\, a non-profit organization dedicated to disseminating traditional Islamic knowledge by qualified female teachers to Muslim women around the globe. She is a passionate advocate for natural birth\, infusing her natural birth classes with Islamic spirituality since 2009\, and has been a qualified lactation counselor since 2011.  Her latest endeavor is her sisters-only YouTube channel catering to women’s educational and spiritual needs through short talks and reminders. Ustadha Shamira resides in sunny Southern California with her husband and four children.
