The fifteenth night of this month is known as laylatul-bara’ah (the Night of Innocence) or Laylat un-Nisf min Shaban (the Middle Night of Shaban or shab-e-barat). \n\n\n\nIt has been narrated that the Messenger of Allah\, blessings and peace be upon him\, said: “There are five nights on which dua is not rejected: the first night of Rajab\, the fifteenth night of Sha‘ban\, Thursday night\, the night before Eid al Fitr and the night before Eid al Nahr (al Adha).” (al Suyuti) \n\n\n\nLocally\, for those who follow moonsighting\, the 15th night of Shaban is Sunday night (March 28). This is a special night for making dua and other acts of worship. It is also recommended to fast on the 15th day of Shaban (Monday\, March 29). \n\n\n\nFor more information\, see the following links: \n\n\n\n\nMerits of Sha’ban\n\n\n\n\nThe Prophet (PBUH) said: “Allah looks at His creation in the night of mid-Sha’ban\, and He forgives all His creation except for a mushrik (idolater) or a mushahin (one bent on hatred).” \n\n\n\nIt is the night our provision for the coming year is determined and a night of forgiveness.  Therefore\, doing special dhikr prayers at night and asking for forgiveness is recommended.
