DESCRIPTION:For Sisters Only: Join us for a transformative body and mind experience every Saturday and Sunday morning with a Professional Yoga and Pilates Instructor. Stretch your muscles\, shape your body\, and relax your mind. \nThe recommended age is 20+ for Pilates Classes. \nSat. (8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.)  & Sun. (8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.) | Weekly with a break in Ramadan ‘25 | Conference Room | Max 15 attendees per session | $15/session or $100/monthly | Register at mcceastbay.org/pilates \nPilates Classes\nPilates is based on six principles: breath\, concentration\, center\, control\, precision\, and flow. It is designed to transform muscles and bones while strengthening the core. Regular practice of Pilates not only reshapes the musculoskeletal system but also helps regulate emotions. This class is highly beneficial for individuals over the age of 20 years. Participants will learn how to control muscle movement and maintain poses while regulating their breathing. Regular Pilates practice increases muscle endurance against daily wear and tear and enhances flexibility. Starting age is 20 years. All props will be provided except the Yoga mat and foam roller. \nMCC has a standing policy that financial need should never hold a person back from attending any activity held in the community center. A health enthusiast\, she began learning yoga and Pilates a few years ago and\, inspired by the transformation in her own body\, decided to teach Pilates and stretching to fellow Muslim sisters to promote body awareness. Don’t miss this impactful event! \nDr. Amber Haque earned his PhD in Psychology from Western Michigan University and Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Michigan University. He worked as a psychologist for various mental health institutions in the US (Michigan and NY State) for over 12 years and then switched to academia in 1996. Dr. Haque taught in the Department of Psychology at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) for eight years and the Department of Psychology at UAE University (UAEU)\, UAE\, for 14 years. He also served as a Visiting Professor at the National University of Malaysia (UKM)\, the International University of Sarajevo (Bosnia)\, and a Visiting Scholar at Cornell University (Ithaca) and the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia). \nDr. Haque has served in various administrative roles\, including being the department chair in Malaysia and director of the clinical psychology program at UAEU. He has published numerous mental health and Indigenous psychology articles in international refereed journals\, edited four books\, and served as a board member on four journals. He served as a reviewer for more than 30 international journals. Dr. Haque is a Clinical Psychology Professor at the School of Psychology and Social Work\, Doha Institute for Graduate Studies\, Qatar. Learn more
