And in the Islamic Tradition\, the Prophet Muhammad PBUH said\, “The best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the night prayer.” (Sahih Muslim) \nMCC has a standing policy that financial need should never prevent a person from attaining spiritual or practical knowledge from any event or class held within the community center. To request a financial waiver\, message scholarship@mcceastbay.org \nAbout the Speakers \nUstadha Anse Sawsan Imady \nUstadha Anse Sawsan Imady learned traditional Islam from her female teachers over 40 years. She has a BA in English literature and a Masters in Education. During her career\, she has been a teacher of English and other subjects; as well as an Academic Supervisor\, writing curriculum\, directing instruction\, and training teachers. She was born to a Syrian father and an American mother\, bridging those two worlds throughout her life. She has raised five children with her husband of 42 years. Learn more about her at http://www.peacespective.org \nUstadha Hosai Mojaddidi \nUstadha Hosai co-founded MH4M (http://mentalhealth4muslims.com)\, established in 2010. For nearly 20 years\, she has been actively involved in the Bay Area and Southern California Muslim community\, working and volunteering for many notable organizations. Learn more about her at http://hosaimojaddidi.com. Ustadha Hosai Mojaddidi was born in Afghanistan and moved to the United States with her family at age two. She credits her Islamic journey to the year 1996\, when she began attending Islamic classes in Hayward\, California. These classes were taught by her teacher and mentor since then; Shaykh Hamza Yusuf. One of her main areas of focus is to help create a strong sisterhood for the women in the community by leading halaqas (spiritual study circles) and support groups whilst offering individual spiritual counseling and mentoring. She noted that many of the spiritual problems encountered were reflective of the deep and complicated mental health issues of the community and would be better served by focusing on mental health. Thus\, along with her cousin Dr. Nafisa Sekandari\, they co-founded a website called Mental Health 4 Muslims (www.mentalhealth4muslims.com). Ustadha Hosai is a freelance writer and editor who lectures on various Islamic/spiritual topics. \n\nMore Ustadha Hosai: mcceastbay.org/hosai\n\nHafidha Husna Sabeer \nBorn and raised in Sacramento\, California\, Hafidha Husna is an active member of her community and works as an Islamic teacher at Tarbiya Institute. She is currently a college student and pursuing a degree in Nursing. She attended Madrasat Nurul Islam\, where she studied and gained her Islamic knowledge. She completed her hifdh of the Quran and is a continuing student of knowledge. In leisure time\, Husna enjoys reading\, longboarding\, and spending time with friends. \nUstadha Reem Shaikh \nUstadha Reem memorized the Qur’an at age seven and studied Arabic in Egypt. She earned a BA in Islamic Studies from Qatar University and an MTS from Harvard University\, where she also served as the Muslim Chaplain at Boston University. Additionally\, Ustadha Reem holds ijazat in Qur’anic recitations and has taught at Guidance College. Currently\, she is pursuing her PhD in Islamic Law at UT Austin. \nUstadha Rania Awaad\n\nShaykah Dr. Rania Awaad M.D.\, is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Stanford University School of Medicine where she is the Director of the Stanford Muslim Mental Health & Islamic Psychology Lab as well as Stanford University’s Affiliate Chaplain and Affiliate Professor of Islamic Studies. SUMMARY:Ramadan Arts and Crafts Program 2026 | Khala Emira Mustafa
DESCRIPTION:For children Ages 4 to 12: Join Sister Emira Mustafa for fun-filled\, creative Saturday afternoons during the blessed month of Ramadan. \nCreate lasting memories with your kids as we craft meaningful keepsakes using high-quality materials\, insha’Allah. \nSaturdays\, Feb. 21\, Feb. 28\, & March 7 | 12:30 p.m. (After Dhur) to 2:30 p.m. | Ages 4 to 12 | MCC Lobby (outside the Prayer Hall) | $40 per session or $120 for all three activities + a bonus activity | Register at mcceastbay.org/ramadan-kids \nYou can register for three in-person individual weeks & 1 take-home activity or sign up for the full program! Check out the exciting lineup below: \nWeek 1: Flower Pounding Ramadan Canvas Bags\nUsing the flower hammering technique\, we will gently transfer the natural colors and shapes of flowers and leaves mentioned in the Qur’an onto our canvas bags. Each plant reminds us of Allah’s signs in creation. Afterward\, you will personalize your bag with painted stencils to add a Ramadan message or name. Making something beautiful\, meaningful\, and uniquely yours to carry throughout this blessed month. \nWeek 2: Wooden Masjid Puzzle\nWooden Masjid Puzzle Art is a hands-on activity where participants decorate individual wooden puzzle pieces that come together to make a unique masjid. The pieces can be mixed and interchanged to create unique and beautiful designs\, reminding us that many different parts come together to form one community. \nWeek 3: Yarn Art\nYarn Painting is a hands-on art activity inspired by the traditional art of the Huichol people of Mexico. Yarn is pressed onto a sticky surface to create colorful\, textured designs. After drawing a simple outline or following the provided stencils\, yarn is placed along the lines or swirled freely to form vibrant\, tactile pictures that the kids will be able to frame for a memorable keepsake. \nWeek 4: DIY Eid Stickers\nDIY Eid Stickers is a creative activity where participants color pre-provided Eid-inspired images or design their own stickers. These stickers can be used to decorate Eid cards\, gifts\, or keepsakes\, adding a personal and joyful touch to Eid celebrations. \nFor those unable to attend in person\, we offer take-home craft kits for all four weeks. Pickup can be scheduled in advance. \nNote: No refunds are allowed due to the prior purchase of materials specific to each program. However\, you can transfer or gift your spot to someone else.\n \nImportant Notes: \n\nThese are parent-and-me activities—parents must stay and supervise their children throughout the event.\nOnly registered children will receive materials for the crafts.\nEach session is capped at 75 children\, so register early before we fill up! A second session may be added pending registration needs.\nRefunds are not available\, but you may transfer your spot or pick up the week’s materials by the end of the session.\nPrices will increase after January 17th once full.\n\nLet’s make this Ramadan memorable for our little ones! 🌟 \nMCC has a standing policy that financial need should never prevent a person from attaining spiritual or practical knowledge from any event or class held within the community center.
