DESCRIPTION:Join us this April for a thoughtful and engaging joint reading group as we explore Ilan Pappé’s The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine. Together\, we’ll dive into this important historical work through guided discussion and shared reflection. \n  \nTuesdays (April 7\, April 14\, April 21\, April 28) | 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. | MCC Conference Room | Free; No RSVP required | In-person only \n  \nThis reading group offers a welcoming space for participants to critically engage with the text\, exchange perspectives\, and deepen their understanding of the subject matter. \nThese weekly sessions are held in collaboration with Lynnewood United Methodist Church. \nCopies of the text can be purchased here. \nReading Schedule:  \n\nTuesday\, April 7: Chapters 1-3\nTuesday\, April 14: Chapters 4-6\nTuesday\, April 21: Chapters 7-9\nTuesday\, April 28: Chapters 10-12\n\n  \nAbout the Facilitators: \nCorey Dao-Forrester\nCorey was born and raised in Charleston\, SC. He grew up loving and playing sports\, particularly baseball\, while also fishing and surfing constantly. Corey then attended college at Campbell University\, majoring in Christian Ministry. After Campbell\, Corey attended Duke Divinity school where he met his wife\, Emily. They lived in Durham\, NC\, together for five years before moving to San Francisco. Corey loves playing and going on adventures with his three dogs – Wrigley\, Milo\, and Banks. Corey and Emily love traveling\, experiencing food\, and exploring new places. Corey has a deep love for Duke Basketball\, the Chicago Cubs\, and playing golf. Prior to Lynnewood\, Corey served as the Family Ministry Associate at First Cary UMC in Cary\, NC. He is grateful and excited to begin this journey at Lynnewood UMC. Corey is passionate about Family Ministry\, engaging with youth and children\, and pursuing justice and reconciliation in our community. He wants all to feel loved\, welcomed\, and accepted into our community. \nMohammed Kaddoura\nMohammed lives with his family in the Tri-Valley area and works in data analytics. He has been an active member of the MCC community for nearly three years\, organizing a weekly book club and a monthly hiking group for men. He believes in the power of shared stories and genuine conversation\, and is drawn to spaces where people come together around ideas that matter. In his free time\, Mohammed enjoys running\, baking\, and spending time outdoors.

DESCRIPTION:Join us Sunday nights at 5:30 p.m. from April 5th to April 19th for evenings of remembrance\, reflection\, and community as MCC East Bay temporarily hosts Ta’leef Collective’s weekly Mawlids. \nGather to connect your heart to the Prophet ﷺ\, to God\, and to God’s servants. This gathering has been lovingly sustained for over 20 years by dedicated volunteers\, munshids\, and teachers. Each week will feature reflections from esteemed guest teachers. This Sunday is a moment to gather in gratitude\, honoring all that this community has built here over nearly two decades. \nThe current property development plans for the building will necessitate our temporary relocation. Our landlord has generously offered to work with us to ensure a smooth transition\, including the potential use of the warehouse in the near future after construction. \nWe want to express our profound gratitude to our landlords.
