SUMMARY:Blood Drive @ Jumu'ah
DESCRIPTION:As people of faith\, it is in our blood to help. Be part of a lifesaving journey to save up to three lives with a 15-minute blood donation. \nThe MCC community has saved nearly 350 lives! This is our 21st blood drive during Jumu’ah. Each blood drive has always been fully booked or near-fully booked! \nLet’s continue that trajectory at this blood drive and keep all our American Red Cross guests busy when they set up in our Banquet Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on a Friday. Sign up at: https://mcceastbay.org/blood-drive \nIn 2022\, MCC will proudly host these quarterly blood drives during Jumuah services from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with our friends at the American Red Cross: \n\nFriday\, March 4\, 2022\nFriday\, June 3\, 2022\nFriday\, September 2\, 2022\nFriday\, December 2\, 2022\n\n[fusion_button link=”https://mcceastbay.org/blood-drive” text_transform=”” title=”” target=”_self” link_attributes=”” alignment=”” modal=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility\,medium-visibility\,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” color=”default” button_gradient_top_color=”” button_gradient_bottom_color=”” button_gradient_top_color_hover=”” button_gradient_bottom_color_hover=”” accent_color=”” accent_hover_color=”” type=”” bevel_color=”” border_width=”” size=”” stretch=”default” shape=”” icon=”” icon_position=”left” icon_divider=”no” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=””]Book An Appointment[/fusion_button] \nA Power Red donation targets O-\, O+\, A-\, and B- only. The donation process takes an additional 20-30 minutes because donors give two units of concentrated Red Blood Cells\, and your platelets and plasma are returned. \nBlood donors report feeling a sense of great satisfaction after making their blood donation. Why? Because helping others in need just feels good. \nIf you have visited India\, Pakistan\, or another high-risk malaria country and returned within the last 12 months\, you are not eligible to donate blood. \nEvery person who donates blood at MCC in 2022 will receive a voucher for a free meal at iniBurger – Gourmet Burgers in Pleasanton. These vouchers are generously donated by MCC congregation members Leeza and Abdullah Popal\, who own these establishments\, to encourage community and congregation participation. \nMCC Youth: If you are 16 to 18\, here is the donor requirements and parental authorization form link. \nOn the morning of the blood drive\, please complete the Rapid Pass online and bring the print-off to speed up the check-in process. Ashir Kirk will give us a letter by letter\, word by word\, and ayah by ayah breakdown of the tajweed of Surah Fatihah. This is an interactive\, engaging family event about the most important surah in the Quran. \nThis workshop\, part of the Surah Fatihah National Tour\, is sponsored by Measured Tones Institute of Quran and MCC East Bay \nQuestions? events@mcceastbay.org \n“Indeed We have granted you [O Messenger] the Seven Frequently-Repeated [verses] and the Tremendous Recital.” (15:87) \nExperts in Qurʾanic commentary have explained that this verse is a reference to Sura al-Fatiha – due to it being repeated by believers multiple times a day in their prayers. They also say that the Tremendous Recital (al-Qurʾan al-ʿAẓīm) is also a reference to the same sura. Its greatness is such that Allah expressed what a great favor He had done to the Messenger of Allah\, Allah bless him and give him peace\, by referring to it with two great titles – as though each is a separate entity. \nHaving a deep understanding of this sura is essential for those wishing to imbue their prayers with deep devotion and a sense of presence with their Lord. One of the names of the sura is “The instruction of how to ask.” \nIn this free two-hour workshop\, Ustadh Ashir Kirk beautifully explains the rich\, nuanced meanings of this sura – connecting each point with the deeper meanings of living Islam and attaining closeness to Allah. It’s unmissable. \nOur learning outcomes:\n\n– Discuss the virtues and importance of the Fatiha.\n– Understand the rich\, nuanced meaning of this sura.\n– Apply the lessons in their daily lives.\n– Transform their prayers by reciting with reflection.\n– Acquire the tools necessary to attain presence in prayer.\n\nAbout the presenter:\nUstadh Ashir Kirk is the founder and Executive Director of Measured Tones Institute of Quran. Born to a Muslim convert mother\, he started studying Quran at the age of 10. At 16\, he dropped out of high school to pursue his Quranic studies in Damascus for 4 years and 2 years in Morocco\, before moving back to the States to continue studying. He received ‘ijaazah in both Hafs Shatibiyyah and Tayyibatun Nashr. \nUstadh Ashir received the Muhammad Ali scholarship to Bayan Theological Seminary in Chicago to pursue his Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Islamic Chaplaincy. When he’s not focused on MTI\, he divides his time between running two businesses\, working with nonprofits\, and his local masjid in Memphis\, TN. \nWhat: The Surah Fātihah National Tour is a highly engaging workshop that focuses solely on the tajweed of Surah Fātihah. Even though Surah Fātihah is the surah we all know the best\, there are many common tajweed hiccups that people make when reciting it. Some of the errors are major and result in changing the meaning of the surah while some are basic. In this workshop\, we hone in on all of them by addressing them one by one from start to finish. \nWhy: Surah Fātihah is the only surah in the entire Quran which is obligatory to recite for salah to be valid. Therefore\, most scholars have said that perfecting its recitation is an absolute necessity. \nWho: This workshop is intended for the whole family\, whether you are a revert or born Muslim. If you have Surah Fātihah memorized\, then it is for you. There is no age limit nor is there a specific target demographic. \nHow: \n\n\n\n– Brief intro to the noble science of tajweed\n– Conduct a thorough analysis of āyah 1 by identifying common errors\n– Correct each error one by one from start to finish\n– The audience engages and chimes in all throughout\n– Recite full aayah collectively\n– Open floor for volunteers to have recitation examined\n– Repeat for āyāt 2-7\n\nGoal: The primary goal is to work towards perfecting our recitation of Surah Fātihah while igniting a desire to correctly recite all of what we have memorized. In doing so\, we hope to further enhance the richness of our prayer as well as our love for Allaah’s Book. By the end of the workshop\, our view of Quranic recitation will be forever transformed\, insha’Allaah. \n\n\nSurah Al-Fatiha with English Subtitles | Qari Amar Bellaha: https://youtu.be/dptfgu2NW0s
