Abundant Ṣalawāt upon the Beloved ﷺ leads to loving him and knowing his beautiful qualities. By that virtue\, degrees of purity are realized. Our landlord has generously offered to work with us to ensure a smooth transition\, including the potential use of the warehouse in the near future after construction. \nWe want to express our profound gratitude to our landlords. Together\, we’ll dive into this important historical work through guided discussion and shared reflection. \n  \nTuesdays (April 7\, April 14\, April 21\, April 28) | 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. | MCC Conference Room | Free; No RSVP required | In-person only \n  \nThis reading group offers a welcoming space for participants to critically engage with the text\, exchange perspectives\, and deepen their understanding of the subject matter. \nThese weekly sessions are held in collaboration with Lynnewood United Methodist Church. \nCopies of the text can be purchased here. \nReading Schedule:  \n\nTuesday\, April 7: Chapters 1-3\nTuesday\, April 14: Chapters 4-6\nTuesday\, April 21: Chapters 7-9\nTuesday\, April 28: Chapters 10-12\n\n  \nAbout the Facilitators: \nCorey Dao-Forrester\nCorey was born and raised in Charleston\, SC. He grew up loving and playing sports\, particularly baseball\, while also fishing and surfing constantly. Corey then attended college at Campbell University\, majoring in Christian Ministry. After Campbell\, Corey attended Duke Divinity school where he met his wife\, Emily. They lived in Durham\, NC\, together for five years before moving to San Francisco. Corey loves playing and going on adventures with his three dogs – Wrigley\, Milo\, and Banks. Corey and Emily love traveling\, experiencing food\, and exploring new places. Corey has a deep love for Duke Basketball\, the Chicago Cubs\, and playing golf. Prior to Lynnewood\, Corey served as the Family Ministry Associate at First Cary UMC in Cary\, NC. He is grateful and excited to begin this journey at Lynnewood UMC. Corey is passionate about Family Ministry\, engaging with youth and children\, and pursuing justice and reconciliation in our community. He wants all to feel loved\, welcomed\, and accepted into our community. \nMohammed Kaddoura\nMohammed lives with his family in the Tri-Valley area and works in data analytics. He has been an active member of the MCC community for nearly three years\, organizing a weekly book club and a monthly hiking group for men. He believes in the power of shared stories and genuine conversation\, and is drawn to spaces where people come together around ideas that matter. In his free time\, Mohammed enjoys running\, baking\, and spending time outdoors.

He worked at hospitals in Khan Younis and Gaza City\, caring for children and collaborating with local pediatricians. He lives with his family in the Tri-Valley.\n\n\n\nAbout Dr. Greg Shay\n\nGreg Shay is a retired Pediatric Pulmonologist who has served on over 30 medical missions throughout the world\, including Syria\, Bangladesh\, and three separate trips to Gaza. While in Gaza\, he helped establish cystic fibrosis care and trained pediatric pulmonologists. He lives in the East Bay.\n\nAbout Soul of My Soul Exhibit\nThe Soul of My Soul Exhibit has started holding mobile art exhibits\, taking visitors on a profound journey of collective grief\, and has expanded to offer activities such as Cultural Days\, Ceramic Art\, and Tatreez workshops\, so people can experience and learn about the culture and beauty of Palestine. After Campbell\, Corey attended Duke Divinity school where he met his wife\, Emily. They lived in Durham\, NC\, together for five years before moving to San Francisco. Corey loves playing and going on adventures with his three dogs – Wrigley\, Milo\, and Banks. Corey and Emily love traveling\, experiencing food\, and exploring new places. Corey has a deep love for Duke Basketball\, the Chicago Cubs\, and playing golf. Prior to Lynnewood\, Corey served as the Family Ministry Associate at First Cary UMC in Cary\, NC. He is grateful and excited to begin this journey at Lynnewood UMC. Corey is passionate about Family Ministry\, engaging with youth and children\, and pursuing justice and reconciliation in our community. He wants all to feel loved\, welcomed\, and accepted into our community. \nMohammed Kaddoura\nMohammed lives with his family in the Tri-Valley area and works in data analytics. He has been an active member of the MCC community for nearly three years\, organizing a weekly book club and a monthly hiking group for men. Raised and educated in Al Beheira governorate\, he went on to study medicine at the University of Alexandria\, where he later served as Vice Director of both the University Children’s Hospital and the Therapeutic Institution — a distinguished career culminating in a Master’s and Doctorate in Pediatrics. \nDr. Nuaina mastered the Ten Qira’at under Shaykh Ahmad Al-Shawa and Sheikha Umm Sa’d of Alexandria — a blind scholar who was among the great transmitters of the classical recitation tradition. Through these unbroken chains\, he became the living inheritor of Egypt’s grand Quranic legacy. Born in London\, England\, he has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1983. After completing his religious studies\, Imam Tahir has served the Bay Area Muslim community since 2000. He also teaches Islamic Law at the renowned Zaytuna College\, America’s first Muslim liberal arts college\, located in Berkeley\, CA. In addition\, he is the founding board member of Averroes High School\, the Bay Area’s first Muslim high school. He is currently the chairman of the board of NISA\, the North American Islamic Shelter for the Abused\, an organization that works towards alleviating issues related to domestic violence. He has a passion for community service. He served on the Human Rights Commission for the City of San Jose for over 5 years and on the Human Relations Commission for the County of Santa Clara for one year. He also leads a group for Hajj each year. \nSidi Shaan Mukhtar \nSidi Shaan Mukhtar was born in the Bay Area and raised in the MCC community from a young age. Shaan has actively contributed to establishing MSAs at high schools and community colleges\, as well as youth halaqas\, at various mosques in the San Francisco Bay Area. Shaan holds a BA in Political Science from UC Davis and has pursued a passion for Islamic learning. He attended the Ilm Tree Homeschooling Cooperative during middle school\, where he studied Islamic Sciences under Shaykh Rami Nsour.   During college\, Shaan took a gap year to study Arabic in Jordan. He is currently pursuing his MA in Islamic Studies at the Islamic Seminary of America (TISA)\, where he studies alongside senior American Muslim scholars\, including Shaykh Yasir Qadhi\, Shaykha Tamara Gray\, and Dr. James Jones. Pray the pre-dawn prayer in congregation (6 a.m.)\, followed by recitations of Surah Yaseen and Al-Wird Al-Latif (booklets provided) in unison\, community dua\, and following sunup\, Salat al-Ishraq prayer in congregation. Qari Amar will also lead the Khatam (completion) of the Qur’an. Each month\, congregation members complete one Juz of the Holy Qur’an. Please finish your Juz by the first Sunday of each month. Pray the pre-dawn prayer in congregation (6 a.m.)\, followed by recitations of Surah Yaseen and Al-Wird Al-Latif (booklets provided) in unison\, community dua\, and following sunup\, Salat al-Ishraq prayer in congregation. Qari Amar will also lead the Khatam (completion) of the Qur’an. Each month\, congregation members complete one Juz of the Holy Qur’an. Please finish your Juz by the first Sunday of each month. It is crystal clear how vital the invocation of Ṣalawāt is for the believer\, and it is a Mercy of Almighty Allah ﷻ for its rewards to be multitudinous.
