SUMMARY:Cat Adoption at Jumu'ah Prayers
DESCRIPTION:Valley Humane Society of Pleasanton will be on site with immediately adoptable furry felines who are ready to be part of your forever family.  \n\n\n\n2 p.m. to 5 p.m. | Friday\, Oct. 13 | MCC Banquet Hall | Free; no RSVP required to attend | See adoption fee below \n\n\n\n“Verily\, there is a Heavenly reward for every act of kindness done to a living animal.” Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) \n\n\n\nEach adopter must be at least 21 years of age. The adoption fee for a kitten is $125 or $200 for a pair and $100 for a cat. It includes: \n\n\n\n\n -medical summary report\n\n\n\n– spay or neuter surgery;\n\n\n\n– microchip and transfer of ownership\n\n\n\n– age-appropriate vaccinations;\n\n\n\n– up to date on flea control;\n\n\n\n– parasite control treatments;\n\n\n\n– free sample bag of food and\n\n\n\n– free vet check certificate\n\n\n\n– coupons for local pet stores\n\n\n\n\nQuestions? events@mcceastbay.org \n\n\n\nProphet Mohammad (peace be upon him) was fond of cats\, particularly his cat Muezza. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was so attached to him he’d let the cat sit on his lap while he gave his sermons. He’d even drink water that Muezza had previously been lapping up. \n\n\n\nThere are several well-known tales about Muezza. One says that the cat saved Prophet Muhammad from the deadly bite of a venomous snake. Another relates a time when Muezza was asleep on Prophet Muhammad’s robe when the call to prayers sounded. Although most people would have shooed away the cat\, Prophet Muhammad instead cut off the sleeve of his robe so Muezza could rest in peace. \n\n\n\nIslam instructs Muslims to revere cats. In fact\, mistreating a cat is considered a significant transgression.

SUMMARY:Congregational Prayer During Solar Eclipse
DESCRIPTION:Help us revive a Sunnah by joining us at 9:18 a.m. for worship and the congregational solar eclipse prayer (Salat al-Kusoof) led by Qari Amar Bellaha. The Prophet (PBUH) would engage in worship in the masjid during this unique event. \n\n\n\nAccording to NASA\, though the solar eclipse will begin at about 8:05 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.\, we will perform the congregational four cycles of Salat al-Kusoof; the maximum eclipse is anticipated at 9:18 a.m. We welcome you and your family to come early and stay afterward to perform additional worship. \n\n\n\nSaturday\, Oct. 14 | 9:18 a.m. to 9:22 a.m. | Prayer Hall | Join in-person \n\n\n\nQuestions? events@mcceastbay.org \n\n\n\nFor how to perform this prayer\, see here. \n\n\n\nThe Saturday\, Oct. 14\, 2023\, annular solar eclipse will cross North\, Central\, and South America. It will be visible in parts of the United States\, Mexico\, and many countries in South and Central America. \n\n\n\nIn Pleasanton\, the eclipse will start at 8:05 a.m.\, with the maximum eclipse anticipated at 9:18 a.m. to 9:22 a.m. It will be over by 10:45 a.m. According to NASA\, we will witness a partial solar eclipse with the moon obscuring about 80 percent of the sun at the maximum eclipse point in the Tri-Valley. \n\n\n\nWhen the sun was eclipsed at the time of the Messenger of Allah\, he rushed nervously to the mosque\, dragging his cloak behind him and leading the people in prayer. \n\n\n\nHe told them that the eclipse was one of the signs of Allah\, with which Allah makes His slaves afraid\, and that it may be the cause of punishment coming upon the people. \n\n\n\nHe commanded them to do that which could prevent the punishment\, so he commanded them to pray when an eclipse happens and to make du’aa’\, seek His forgiveness\, give charity\, free slaves\, and do other righteous deeds so that the punishment would go away and not befall the people. \n\n\n\n“The sun and moon are two signs of Allah(ﷻ)\, and they do not become eclipsed for the death or birth of anyone. If you see that\, then pray until it (the eclipse) is over.” – Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) \n\n\n\nAccording to another hadeeth: “Call on Allah and pray until [the eclipse] is over.” \n\n\n\nSalat Al-Kusuf is a recommended Sunnah (Sunnah Muakkada). It is better to perform in congregation but can also be done individually. In Salatul Kusuf\, there is no athan or iqama. It is two rakats. \n\n\n\nIn addition\, it can be one long prayer until the eclipse is finished\, or it can be done in multiple prayers throughout the eclipse. \n\n\n\nSteps of Salatul Kusuf – The Solar Eclipse Prayer: \n\n\n\n\n1. Takbeerat Al-Ihram\n\n\n\n2. Recite Fatiha and long surah\n\n\n\n3. First Extended Ruku\n\n\n\n4. Stand up from Ruku – Read Fatiha (optional) followed by long surah\n\n\n\n5. Second Extended Ruku\n\n\n\n6. Stand up from Ruku\n\n\n\n7. Two Extended Sujoods\n\n\n\n8. Stand up for 2nd Rakat and Repeat Steps 1-7\n\n\n\n9. Salaam on both sides. If the eclipse is not finished\, you may do an additional two rakats or more in the same format until it is complete.
