DESCRIPTION:For Children & Adults Ages 13+:  Join a six-week calligraphy session with Calligrapher Zubair Simab for beginner & intermediate students. The class is designed to learn the popular Thuluth style of writing. Students will learn the: \n\n\nUnderstanding of pen\, paper\, and ink \n\n\nPreparing the traditional calligraphy pen \n\n\nTechnically analyzing alphabet letters in Thuluth style \n\n\nIntroduction to fundamentals of composition \n\n\nWednesdays | 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. | Jan. 8 to Feb. 12\, 2025 | MCC Banquet Hall | $110.00/student ($40 calligraphy kit\, can be purchased separately) \nCapped at 20 attendees. \nRegister at mcceastbay.org/calligraphy \nThe six-week sessions will provide you with an understanding of pen\, paper\, and ink in calligraphy\, preparing the pen\, and learning the Thuluth style of writing and techniques. It will also introduce the fundamentals of composition. You will have a chance to write and practice in class. He is an active traditional arts practitioner and teacher in his local community. Zubair has exhibited\, lectured\, and demonstrated throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. His initial passion for calligraphy was sparked in his birthplace of Kabul\, Afghanistan\, where he began training in calligraphy as a young boy. Twenty-five years ago\, Zubair returned to the serious study and practice of traditional calligraphy. Zubair is influenced by the Afghan and Turkish master calligraphers.
