DESCRIPTION:Join Shaykh Talal Ahdab for a faith-affirming evening to learn lessons from one of the five blessed nights when duas are accepted\, according to Imam Nawawi. We also highly encourage you to fast on Wednesday\, March 8. Join us in this annual commemoration of laylatul-bara’ah (the Night of Innocence).  \n\n\n\nQari Amar will be leading the evening with the recitation of Surah Al-Yaseen after Maghrib. He pursued a rigorous and structured classical curriculum with Islamic authorities\, focusing on Islamic theology\, epistemology\, ontology\, language\, jurisprudence\, and legal theory. Over the last twenty years\, he has taught the Islamic disciplines to senior students and professors of Islamic studies. His research interests include exploring how modern challenges can be addressed through Islam’s rich tradition of knowledge and scholarship. Shaykh Talal is fluent in Arabic. Shaykh Talal joined the Zaytuna College faculty in Fall of 2017. \n\n\n\nAbout Nisf Sha’banThe month of Shaban is the eighth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The fifteenth night of this month is known as laylatul-bara’ah (the Night of Innocence) or laylat un-nisf min Shaban (the Middle Night of Shaban or shab-e-barat). \n\n\n\nIt has been narrated that the Messenger of Allah\, blessings and peace be upon him\, said: “There are five nights on which dua is not rejected: the first night of Rajab\, the fifteenth night of Sha‘ban\, Thursday night\, the night before Eid al Fitr and the night before Eid al Nahr (al Adha).” (al Suyuti) \n\n\n\nLocally\, for those who follow moonsighting\, the 15th night of Shaban is Sunday night (March 28). This is a special night for making dua and other acts of worship. It is also recommended to fast on the 15th day of Shaban (Monday\, March 29). \n\n\n\nFor more information\, see the following links: \n\n\n\n\nMerits of Sha’ban\n\n\n\n\nThe Prophet (PBUH) said: “Allah looks at His creation in the night of mid-Sha’ban\, and He forgives all His creation except for a mushrik (idolater) or a mushahin (one bent on hatred).” \n\n\n\nIt is the night when our provision for the coming year is determined and a night of forgiveness.  Therefore\, it is recommended to do special dhikr\, and prayers at night\, as well as to ask for forgiveness.
