SUMMARY:COVID-19 Clinic
DESCRIPTION:Alameda County Public Health Department\, in collaboration with MCC East Bay\, is hosting a public vaccination clinic for ages 12 and up. \n*Unfortunately the pediatric vaccine for 5-11 year old’s will not be available for this clinic. Alameda County Health is working with school districts across the county to host pediatric mobile vaccination clinics and plans to host a mobile vaccination clinic for 5-11 year old’s at MCC in 2022. For our clinic on 11/19 we will be able to vaccinate participants 12+.* \nAttendees will receive the Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccine at their preference. Participants must have two doses of the Pfizer vaccine or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to achieve maximum effectiveness. \n\nFirst Dose: Friday\, October 29th\, 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.\nSecond Dose: Friday\, November 19th\, 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.\n\nPre-registration encouraged but not necessary for an appointment: https://mcceastbay.org/clinic \nThis vaccination drive is intended to primarily service the unvaccinated and we recommend participants in need of the booster to receive it from their primary health care provider. The CDC recommends the vaccine booster only for those who received the Pfizer (six months after their last shot).  Booster protection and under age 12 vaccination could soon expand. \nWe will not be offering a parallel flu clinic at this Covid-19 clinic. \nA Pfizer booster dose is recommended if you received your second dose at least six months ago\, and are:\n \n\n65 or older\, or\n18+ who live in long-term care settings\, or\n18+ who have underlying medical conditions\, or\n18+ who are at increased risk due to social inequity\, or\n18+ who work or live in high-risk settings\n\n• I received a second dose of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months ago\, AND  \n\n• I am age 65 years or older\, OR \n• I live in a long-term care setting\, OR \n• I am age 50–64 years and experience social and economic risks that place me at increased risk for COVID-19\, OR \n• I am age 18-64 and I have one of the following underlying medical conditions: \no Cancer \no Chronic kidney disease \no Chronic lung disease o Dementia or other neurological conditions \no Diabetes (type 1 or type 2) \no Down syndrome o Heart conditions \no HIV infection \no Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) \no Liver disease \no Overweight or obesity (body mass index (BMI) over 25 kg/m2 \no Pregnant and recently pregnant (for at least 42 days following end of pregnancy) \no Sickle cell disease or thalassemia \no Smoker\, current or former \no Solid organ or blood stem cell transplant \no Stroke or cerebrovascular disease\, which affects blood flow to the brain \no Substance use disorder \n• I am age 18-64 years and am at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of my institutional setting\, or because I work as one of the following: \no First responders (healthcare workers\, firefighters\, police\, congregate care staff) \no Education staff (teachers\, school staff\, daycare workers) \no Food and agriculture workers \no Manufacturing workers \no Corrections workers \no U.S. Postal Service workers \no Public transit workers \no Grocery store workers  \n\nA Johnson & Johnson booster dose is recommended if you received your first dose at least 2 months ago\, and are 18 or older.\nWho is Eligible for a COVID-19 Booster Shot\nCertain people are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster shot\, including those who received Moderna and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccines. Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots. \nFor individuals who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine\, the following groups are eligible for a booster shot at 6 months or more after their initial series: \n\n65 years and older\nAge 18+ who live in long-term care settings\nAge 18+ who have underlying medical conditions\nAge 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings\n\nFor the nearly 15 million people who got the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine\, booster shots are also recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago.
