She is a co-founder of the ILM Tree homeschooling cooperative in Lafayette\, California. \nNora Zaki Mantas is a chaplain\, educator\, and interfaith leader engaged in Muslim community development\, pastoral care\, and spiritual formation\, who brings important insight into how nurturing leadership shapes stronger families and healthier communities. Chaplain Nora has an MDiv and an MA in Islamic Education (2025) from Bayan. She will be joining via Zoom. \nRukayat Yakub is an award-winning children’s author\, educator\, publisher\, trainer\, consultant\, and school climate coach. Her areas of expertise include addressing anti-blackness\, curriculum design\, Islamic Studies\, and ethical wealth flow. She works with leaders to develop and implement best practices that infuse prophetic courage\, kindness\, and humility in community institutions. Ustadha Rukayat is a Bayan Doctoral student (2027) and has an MA in Islamic Education (2024) from Bayan.   She will be joining via Zoom. \nTogether\, they will explore how the spiritual labor of mothers contributes to the moral and emotional health of communities and how the principles of motherhood\, compassion\, patience\, wisdom\, and resilience mirror the very foundations of spiritual and pastoral care. \nAbout Bayan Islamic Graduate School \nFounded in 2011\, Bayan Islamic Graduate School is a pioneering institution dedicated to cultivating leaders grounded in Islam and prepared to serve in contemporary society. No boys over the age of eight are allowed. \nDates for Monthly Women’s Mawlid at MCC East Bay \n\n– March 28th 11-1pm\n– April 25th 11-1pm \n– May 30th 12-2pm\n– June 27th 11-1pm\n– July 25th 11-1pm\n– Aug 29th 11-1pm\n– Sep 26th 11-1pm\n– Oct 31st 11-1pm\n– Dec 5th 11-1pm\n\nQuestions? events@mcceastbay.org \nThe Mawlid is a joyous expression of the greatest blessing from Allah. \nWe take this blessed opportunity monthly to remind ourselves of the three sacred rights that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ requires from us\, instilling in us a deep sense of respect and reverence. \n\n– Marifah – Recognizing who the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is\n– Muhabbah – Loving the Messenger of Allah ﷺ\n– Ittiba’ – Obedience to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ\n\nThe second two (loving and obeying) are not entirely possible without genuinely recognizing the first – who the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was. This recognition enlightens us and deepens our knowledge of his teachings.
