SUMMARY:Muslim Youth Medicine Exploration Week | Dr. Ayesha Dhar
DESCRIPTION:This event is a one-week summer camp designed to introduce students to a wide range of careers within the healthcare field. The goal is to provide students with a clear and realistic understanding of the different pathways from high school to professional careers in areas such as allopathic vs. osteopathic medicine (MD/DO)\, nursing\, physician assistant (PA)\, physical and occupational therapy (PT/OT)\, mental health therapists\, dentistry\, and veterinary medicine. Throughout the week\, students will learn about the educational journeys required for each field\, including college preparation\, graduate programs\, and admissions processes\, while also gaining insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of various healthcare professionals. \n\nThroughout the week\, students will dive into engaging\, hands-on activities like suturing\, CPR training\, and interactive role-play. They’ll explore the educational pathways for different healthcare careers\, covering college prep\, graduate programs\, and admissions\, while gaining a real-world glimpse into the daily lives of healthcare professionals. \nKids will receive medical tool-kit and certificate at the end of program. \nCapped at 30 students. \n\n  \nMon – Thur June 8th – 11th | 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | MCC Conference Room | Register at mcceastbay.org/medicalcamp \n  \nAbout Dr. Ayesha Dhar \nDr. Ayesha Dhar earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biological Sciences from the University of California\, Irvine. Prior to medical school\, she served a year as a high school biology teacher\, supporting students within the public education system and fostering a strong foundation in science education. She went on to pursue her medical training at California Health Sciences University in Clovis\, California\, where she will graduate this month. She will begin her training as a Pediatric resident at Valley Children’s Healthcare in Madera\, California\, with future plans to pursue a fellowship in hospital pediatrics or neonatology. \n  \nMCC has a standing policy that financial need should never hold a person back from attaining knowledge offered within the four walls of MCC’s facility.
