These Halaqas are for only ages 8-13—no younger boys. The sessions are capped at 30 teens. He has also worked with the Yaqeen Institute on several projects\, including curriculum development. In addition to his extensive experience working with and mentoring Muslim youth\, he has completed Arabic studies at the Qasid Institute in Amman and studied Islamic sciences with traditional scholars based in Jordan and Turkey. \nSister Fouzia Alam\, a mother of three boys\, is collaborating to launch the Boys’ Halaqa. She has extensive experience and organized numerous Bay Area enrichment programs. \nAzmat Zeeshan Mukhtar is a local father and mentor from our community who enjoys sports and kids. He will organize the activities and bring on some other dads to help volunteer and make this a rewarding activity for our young Muslim boys. Brother Zeeshan Mukhtar has previously led similar sessions at his son’s school\, and in the past\, he coached flag football for boys at MCC.

Sr. Indira is passionate about working with kids and youth to provide a safe\, fun\, enriching space for kids to enjoy their summer! Sr. Indira looks to hire highly energetic\, positive\, and knowledgeable Muslims to offer beneficial and enjoyable sessions throughout the camo day in sha Allah. Sr. Kaljo holds a Masters Degree\, has played professional basketball\, and has been a director of various programs since 2014. Sr. Kaljo is extremely excited to offer a summer camp at MCC East Bay and looks forward to meeting the community!

Sr. Indira looks to hire highly energetic\, positive\, and knowledgeable Muslims to offer beneficial and enjoyable sessions throughout the camo day in sha Allah. In addition to his extensive experience working with and mentoring Muslim youth\, he has completed Arabic studies at the Qasid Institute in Amman and studied Islamic sciences with traditional scholars based in Jordan and Turkey. \nSister Fouzia Alam\, a mother of three boys\, is collaborating to launch the Boys’ Halaqa. She has extensive experience and organized numerous Bay Area enrichment programs. \nAzmat Zeeshan Mukhtar is a local father and mentor from our community who enjoys sports and kids. He will organize the activities and bring on some other dads to help volunteer and make this a rewarding activity for our young Muslim boys. Brother Zeeshan Mukhtar has previously led similar sessions at his son’s school\, and in the past\, he coached flag football for boys at MCC.

Shaan has actively contributed to establishing high school and community college MSAs as well as youth halaqas at various San Francisco Bay Area mosques. Shaan holds a BA in Political Science from UC Davis and has pursued a passion for Islamic learning. He attended the Ilm Tree Homeschooling Cooperative during middle school\, where he studied Islamic Sciences under Shaykh Rami Nsour. \nDuring college\, Shaan took a gap year to study Arabic in Jordan. He is currently pursuing his MA in Islamic Studies at the Islamic Seminary of America (TISA)\, which is led by senior American Muslim scholars such as Shaykh Yasir Qadhi\, Shaykha Tamara Gray\, and Dr. James Jones.
