She has extensive experience representing clients with family-based Immigration matters before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services; complex deportation matters before the Federal Immigration Court and U.S. Embassies around the World. \n\n\n\n\nOmar Aziz wears many hats in life. He is an educator\, a PhD student\, a husband\, a father to two daughters\, and most recently\, AACO’s Executive Director–the organization’s first full-time position. Born and raised in Fremont\, CA\, Aziz is settling into his new life in Maryland with his family and embarking on two adventures centered around the Afghan-American diaspora. Within his PhD program in higher education at George Mason University\, Omar is concluding his dissertation research focusing on Afghan-American college students and the intersection between race\, ethnicity\, and immigration. Jan 17\, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. (Introduction – Free) | Sat. Jan 18\, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.\, Sun. For a financial-based scholarship discount code\, please email scholarship@mcceastbay.org \nAbout the Presenter:\nShaykh Samer was born in Damascus\, Syria\, where he studied at the College of Medicine of the University of Damascus. He went on to study in the United States\, where he qualified in internal medicine. \nThe Shaykh has studied under some of the great ‘ulama of the Levant (Shaam) and the Arabian peninsula. He has a traditional license to teach (ijazah) in the ten styles of recitation of the narration of the Shatibiyyah and the Durra from the world-renowned Shaykh Muhammad Sukkar. He received an ijazah in the ten styles of recitation of the narration of Tayyibah from the Egyptian Shaykh Ahmad Mustafa in Riyadh\, Saudi Arabia\, himself a student of Shaykh Abd al-Aziz al-Zayyat of Egypt. Shaykh Samer has a traditional license to teach (ijazah) in Islamic law (fiqh) and theology and creed (‘aqida) from Shaykh Lutfi al-Fayumi and the late Hanafi Mufti\, Shaykh Adib al-Kallas. He also studied with the previous Mufti of Syria\, Shaykh Abu Yusr Ibn `Abidin. Shaykh Samer was honored to study hadith in Mecca with the great Indonesian-Meccan Shaykh Yasin al-Fadani and with Shaykh Nur ud-din `Itr of Syria. He also has an ijazah in Prophetic traditions (hadith) from the late Shaykh `Abd Allah Siraj al-Din of Aleppo\, Syria. \nShaykh Samer is presently a teacher at Ma’had al-Fatih al-Islami in Damascus\, teaching the Hanafi fiqh manual Al-Hidayah in the department of Islamic Law (Shariah)\, and lecturer on the ten recitations of the Qur’an in the MA program. The Shaykh teaches Qur’anic recitation (tajwid) after fajr prayers daily in the blessed mosque of Shaykh Ibn `Arabi\, a post given to him by his Shaykh and father-in-law\, one of the illustrious Shaykhs of Quran in the Levant (Sham)\, the late Shaykh Muhammad Sukkar. DESCRIPTION:For Elementary & Middle School Boys (Ages 8-13): Join us weekly for a Halaqa and hang-out session to help them make connections and bonds\, form a brotherhood\, and navigate school and social challenges as they grow into young men. \nThese sessions aim to craft our next generation of confident\, faithful Muslim men. These Halaqas are for only ages 8-13—no younger boys. The sessions are capped at 30 teens. He has also worked with the Yaqeen Institute on several projects\, including curriculum development. In addition to his extensive experience working with and mentoring Muslim youth\, he has completed Arabic studies at the Qasid Institute in Amman and studied Islamic sciences with traditional scholars based in Jordan and Turkey. \nSister Fouzia Alam\, a mother of three boys\, is collaborating to launch the Boys’ Halaqa. She has extensive experience and organized numerous Bay Area enrichment programs. \nAzmat Zeeshan Mukhtar is a local father and mentor from our community who enjoys sports and kids. He will organize the activities and bring on some other dads to help volunteer and make this a rewarding activity for our young Muslim boys. Brother Zeeshan Mukhtar has previously led similar sessions at his son’s school\, and in the past\, he coached flag football for boys at MCC.

He has a traditional license to teach (ijazah) in the ten styles of recitation of the narration of the Shatibiyyah and the Durra from the world-renowned Shaykh Muhammad Sukkar. He received an ijazah in the ten styles of recitation of the narration of Tayyibah from the Egyptian Shaykh Ahmad Mustafa in Riyadh\, Saudi Arabia\, himself a student of Shaykh Abd al-Aziz al-Zayyat of Egypt. Shaykh Samer has a traditional license to teach (ijazah) in Islamic law (fiqh) and theology and creed (‘aqida) from Shaykh Lutfi al-Fayumi and the late Hanafi Mufti\, Shaykh Adib al-Kallas. He also studied with the previous Mufti of Syria\, Shaykh Abu Yusr Ibn `Abidin. Shaykh Samer was honored to study hadith in Mecca with the great Indonesian-Meccan Shaykh Yasin al-Fadani and with Shaykh Nur ud-din `Itr of Syria. In addition to his extensive experience working with and mentoring Muslim youth\, he has completed Arabic studies at the Qasid Institute in Amman and studied Islamic sciences with traditional scholars based in Jordan and Turkey. \nSister Fouzia Alam\, a mother of three boys\, is collaborating to launch the Boys’ Halaqa. She has extensive experience and organized numerous Bay Area enrichment programs. \nAzmat Zeeshan Mukhtar is a local father and mentor from our community who enjoys sports and kids. He will organize the activities and bring on some other dads to help volunteer and make this a rewarding activity for our young Muslim boys. Brother Zeeshan Mukhtar has previously led similar sessions at his son’s school\, and in the past\, he coached flag football for boys at MCC.

She has extensive experience and organized numerous Bay Area enrichment programs. \nAzmat Zeeshan Mukhtar is a local father and mentor from our community who enjoys sports and kids. He will organize the activities and bring on some other dads to help volunteer and make this a rewarding activity for our young Muslim boys. Brother Zeeshan Mukhtar has previously led similar sessions at his son’s school\, and in the past\, he coached flag football for boys at MCC.
