She has served the American-Muslim community for nearly 20 years as an activist\, writer/editor\, mediator\, interfaith organizer\, and public speaker\, covering a variety of topics\, including women’s issues\, marriage/family\, education\, self-development\, interfaith bridge-building\, spirituality\, etc. \nIn her spare time she enjoys reading\, writing\, blogging via social media (Facebook\, Instagram and Twitter)\, doing arts and crafts\, visiting gourmet coffee shops\, and exploring the countless beautiful parks\, beaches and nature preserves throughout Northern California where she lives with her husband\, two sons\, and fish named Max. \nImam Dawood Yasin is the Director of Student Life and the Center for Ethical Living and Learning at Zaytuna College. His field specialties include Arabic\, Community Studies\, and Ethical Living and Learning. At Zaytuna College\, Imam Dawood has taught all levels of Arabic\, led the Experiential Learning Program\, and taught archery. \nPrior to his post at Zaytuna College\, Imam Dawood served as Muslim Life and Service-Learning Coordinator at Dartmouth College in Hanover\, NH. He previously served as Director of Outreach Affairs at the Zayed Center for Islamic Culture in the United Arab Emirates and as an Arabic language teaching assistant at Yale University. \nImam Dawood received his BA in Community Studies from University of Massachusetts-Boston in 2009 and his MA in Liberal Studies and Globalization Studies from Dartmouth College in 2017. He studied Islamic at Abu Nour Institute in Damascus\, Syria. \nHis MA thesis\, titled “The Heart of All Contradictions: Muslim Industrial Meat Production and Its Challenge to the Ethical Practice of Islam\,” examines modern Muslim industrial meat production and ritual slaughter\, focusing on its legal\, moral\, ecological\, and ethical considerations. \nImam Dawood is proficient in Arabic. Imam Dawood joined the faculty of Zaytuna College in the fall of 2013. \nSister Emira Mustafa is the founder of Craft E Muslims\, a business with a mission to connect the heart and mind through fun innovative methods creatively. \nShe has published two workbooks available on Amazon titled “Islamic Themed Fall Festival Activity Kit” and “Practically Preparing for Ramadan”. Her Etsy page features many Islamic themed crafting kits sure to inspire a love of learning within our community.

He was born in Herat\, Afghanistan and immigrated with his family to America during the Russian invasion of Afghanistan in 1985. After graduating from American High School and Chabot College he attended San Francisco State University where he majored in history. \nHe grew up in a household with a deep love and reverence for poetry. At the age of five he began to memorize poems by Rumi and other great poets. His love of poetry continued to grow and eventually developed into a passion and calling that would allow him to teach regular classes on Rumi throughout California\, the U.S.\, U.K.\, Canada\, Australia\, Malaysia\, Germany and even as far as Konya\, Turkey\, where Mawlana Rumi is laid to rest. The nuances of the Farsi language\, in which he is fluent\, allows him the unique ability to bring Rumi’s poetry to life and to help listeners recognize Rumi’s essential message of peace\, love\, coexistence\, and connection with the Divine. He is the author and performer of “Layla & Majnun” play produced by Performing Lines in Perth Australia. \nUstadh Feraidoon spends his free time reading\, studying\, and lecturing on many topics including Rumi and a wide collection of Farsi poetry\, spirituality\, and self-development. DESCRIPTION:More than 300 fasting brothers and sisters join us each Saturday for our massive free community Iftar. Come join us to pray and break bread in community. All Iftars in Ramadan will take place in the West parking lot (see location marked “outdoor prayers” at https://mcceastbay.org/facility-map) \nOur community Iftar dinners travel the globe and include vegetarian options. \nA registration and nominal $3/person charge is required so that we can have the right amount of food available.
