DESCRIPTION:Learn about the forty hadith on the Virtues of Dhikr of Allah (swt) & on Prophet Muhammad’s (saw) intercession (also known as Shifa’ al-Kubra) with Shaykh Samer Al-Nass at the weekend intensive. Shaykh Samer is a renowned scholar of Qur’an\, Tafsir\, and Hadith. \n\n\n\nIjaza with Sanad (certificate) will be given to the attendees.  \n\n\n\nForty Hadith on The Virtue of Dhikr of Allah (the Exalted) is Sheikh Yusuf al-Nabhani’s collection of forty hadith on dhikr/divine remembrance. This is from his collection of forty hadith on forty subjects. Included is the commentary on these hadiths\, which further elucidates the practice.  \n\n\n\nForty Hadith About His (may Allah bestow peace and blessings be upon him) Intercession/Shifa’ Al-Kubra is a collection of hadith about the Day of Judgement. \n\n\n\nBoth books will be available to purchase at a discounted price on-site. \n\n\n\nFri. He studied in the United States\, where he qualified in internal medicine. \n\n\n\nThe Shaykh has studied under some of the great ‘ulama of the Levant (Shaam) and the Arabian peninsula. He has a traditional license to teach (ijazah) in the ten styles of recitation of the narration of the Shatibiyyah and the Durra from the world-renowned Shaykh Muhammad Sukkar. He received an ijazah in the ten styles of recitation of the narration of Tayyibah from the Egyptian Shaykh Ahmad Mustafa in Riyadh\, Saudi Arabia\, himself a student of Shaykh Abd al-Aziz al-Zayyat of Egypt. Shaykh Samer has a traditional license to teach (ijazah) in Islamic law (fiqh) and theology and creed (‘aqida) from Shaykh Lutfi al-Fayumi and the late Hanafi Mufti\, Shaykh Adib al-Kallas. He also studied with the previous Mufti of Syria\, Shaykh Abu Yusr Ibn `Abidin. Shaykh Samer was honored to study hadith in Mecca with the great Indonesian-Meccan Shaykh Yasin al-Fadani and with Shaykh Nur ud-din `Itr of Syria. He also has an ijazah in Prophetic traditions (hadith) from the late Shaykh `Abd Allah Siraj al-Din of Aleppo\, Syria. \n\n\n\nShaykh Samer is presently a teacher at Ma’had al-Fatih al-Islami in Damascus\, teaching the Hanafi fiqh manual Al-Hidayah in the department of Islamic Law (Shariah)\, and lecturer on the ten recitations of the Qur’an in the MA program. The Shaykh teaches Qur’anic recitation (tajwid) after fajr prayers daily in the blessed mosque of Shaykh Ibn `Arabi\, a post given to him by his Shaykh and father-in-law\, one of the illustrious Shaykhs of Quran in the Levant (Sham)\, the late Shaykh Muhammad Sukkar. After finishing his bachelor’s in Psychology at 19\, he traveled to Cape Town\, SA\, and completed formal seminary training. He returned to the USA and completed his M.A. in Islamic Studies and Leadership at Bayan’s foremost accredited Muslim graduate school. His thesis topic was “Re-forming Islamic Reform: Ma’loom min al-Dīn bil Darūrah\, the Theology of Law\, and the Epistemological Limits of Ijtihād.” \n\n\n\nHis academic interests and love of community work led him to community psychology\, where he is a doctoral candidate and researcher in the field. He co-founded Itqaan Institute\, a premier Qur’an learning institute led by his father. He is co-founder and instructor of Pillars Seminary—a part-time institute that aims to provide the general public with formal\, balanced\, and structured training in Islam. Most recently\, with his father and Shaykh Ismail Bowers\, he established Shifaa Community\, a virtual intentional community that promotes holistic wellness and structured religious guidance. DESCRIPTION:Get inspired and develop a yearning for the book of Allah (swt) by learning the sciences of the Qur’an with Ustadh Basil Farooq from Kitaab Academy. Join us as we delve into major topics about the Quran\, including its definition\, names and meanings\, nature of revelation\, and modes of revelation. \n\n\n\nFriday\, January 19\, 2024 | 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. | MCC Prayer Hall | Join in person or watch live at mcceastbay.org/live \n\n\n\nAbout Ustadh Basil \n\n\n\nUstadh Basil grew up in the UAE and the Bay Area. He completed his memorization of the Quran at the age of 14. Later\, he completed his study of the ten canonical qirā’āt of the Quran and received authorization (ijāza) to transmit and teach them at Recite with Love. He completed BAs in Economics and Applied Mathematics from UC Berkeley in 2019 and worked full-time as an economist in the antitrust litigation industry. \n\n\n\nHe has pursued higher Islamic education for over five years and is currently an ‘Alimiyyah student at Qalam Institute in Dallas. He has studied Tafsīr\, Hadith\, Fiqh (Shāfi’ī and Hanafī)\, Usul al-Fiqh\, ‘Aqīda\, Tajwīd\, ‘Ulum al-Qur’an and Arabic Literature. He is also conducting research and writing on various topics within Quranic Studies and Tafsīr under the guidance of his teachers. He recently published a short book titled “Within its Depths: How the Canonical Recitations Affect the Meaning of the Qur’an.”
