SUMMARY:Mawlid: Hearts Connected | Ta'leef Collective
DESCRIPTION: \nJoin us Sunday nights at 5:30 p.m. from January 18\, 2026\, to February 15\, 2026\, for evenings of remembrance\, reflection\, and community\, as MCC East Bay temporarily hosts Ta’leef Collective’s long-running weekly Mawlid. \nSidi Mahdy Amine is our special guest speaker on Sunday\, January 25\, 2026. \nGather to connect your heart to the Prophet ﷺ\, to God\, and to God’s servants. This gathering has been lovingly sustained for over 20 years by dedicated volunteers\, munshids\, and teachers. Each week will feature reflections from esteemed guest teachers. Join us and keep the connections alive. \n5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. | Sundays | Jan. 18 to Feb. 15 | MCC Conference Room | Please join in person or watch virtually at mcceastbay.org/live \nSponsored by Taleef Collective & MCC East Bay. \nAhead of Ramadan ’26\, MCC is temporarily hosting five weeks of Ta’leef Collective’s weekly Mawlid\, a beautiful gathering of community & remembrance that has been held for more than 20 years for the East Bay Muslim community. Please join us on: \n\nSunday\, January 18\, 2026\nSunday\, January 25\, 2026\nSunday\, February 1\, 2026\nSunday\, February 8\, 2026\nSunday\, February 15\, 2026\n\nQuestions? events@mcceastbay.org \nMahdy Amine is a Zaytuna College alumnus and practicing attorney. Ustadh Mahdi also teaches Islamic Studies at ILM Tree\, and he serves as Convert Care Coordinator for Ta’leef Collective. \n“I want people to feel the true beauty of Islam when they encounter Ta’leef. Was not our Prophet (upon him peace and blessings) the radiant embodiment of outer and inner beauty? One who saw him was in awe\, and one who knew him fell in love. I hope Taleef translates that experiential beauty to a relevant American context while honoring the ethos and principles of the rich Islamic tradition.” \n– More Ustadh Mahdi: https://mcceastbay.org/mahdy \nFrom Taleef: \nDear Ta’leef community\,\nAsalaamu alaykum.\nPeace and blessings to you all. \nWe invite you to join us this coming Sunday\, January 11th\, for the last Mawlid gathering in the Main Hall of our Fremont campus. Please bring your family and friends to fill the room as we honor 17 years of memories and look forward to the journey ahead. \nSince 2008\, this space has been a cherished sanctuary for Ta’leef\, holding countless memories of shahadas\, weddings\, and spiritual growth. This Sunday is a moment to gather in gratitude\, honoring all that this community has built here over nearly two decades. \nThe current property development plans for the building will necessitate our temporary relocation. Our landlord has generously offered to work with us to ensure a smooth transition\, including the potential use of the warehouse in the near future after construction. \nWe want to express our profound gratitude to our landlords. Their immense generosity has provided Ta’leef with a home in Fremont to serve our community for many years\, for which we pray that Allah rewards them immensely. \nIn the meantime\, MCC East Bay has graciously offered to temporarily host Ta’leef’s Mawlid for a few weeks beginning January 18th. \nMay Allah facilitate ease throughout this process\, and we look forward to gathering this Sunday to unite our hearts through the love of the Prophet (AS). \nWith gratitude\,\nThe Ta’leef Board of Directors

SUMMARY:*Canceled* Skygazing for New Ramadan Moon
DESCRIPTION:Assalamu Alaikum MCC Family! With no verifiable sightings of the new crescent\, the first night of Ramadan will be tomorrow\, Wednesday\, Feb. 18\, after Isha (8 p.m.) led by Qari Amar Bellaha. The first day of Ramadan fasting begins on Thursday\, Feb. 19\, insha’Allah.Alhamdulillah\, we have been blessed with another opportunity to witness this holy month. We will stream Taraweeh live each night. Here is our nightly recitation schedule. For Tarweeh prayers\, worshipers may park in the neighboring Pleasanton School District parking lot (marked “HP on this map). \n \nLearn more: https://mailchi.mp/mcceastbay/533245-5060194?e=87dc03b073\n—\n \nAssalamu Alaikum\, Beloved MCC Family!Due to ongoing rain across the Bay Area\, we will not host our annual skygazing for the new moon of Ramadan after Maghrib today. However\, to keep this beautiful Sunnah alive\, we encourage everyone to still go out this evening and peer into the night sky. Due to overcast skies\, we have little chance of seeing the new crescent moon. MCC will review reports from other parts of the country. The new moon will be easily visible tomorrow evening\, inshaAllah.Therefore\, we expect the first day of fasting to be on Thursday\, February 19\, and the first night of Taraweeh prayers to be on Wednesday\, February 18. Qari Amar Bellaha leads Taraweeh prayers at MCC after Isha at 8 p.m.MCC will send an email notification this evening once we have received the final visibility reports.\nMCC adheres to the traditional science of naked-eye (unaided) new crescent moon (hilal) sighting to begin and end our Islamic lunar months.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWith clear skies\, the crescent (hilal) would be visible shortly after sunset in the area above where the sun had set. It is a beautiful experience to witness its emergence\, and it is a sunnah of our noble Prophet ﷺ that we hope our ummah continues to revive. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n*Due to rain in the forecast\, this event has been canceled.* \nCrescentwatch.org encourages everyone to go out to look for the new crescent moon (hilal) on the evening of Tuesday\, February 17th (after 29 days of Sha’ban) in anticipation of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. Qualified Muslim astronomers and reliable visibility forecasts indicate that on Tuesday evening\, a “naked-eye” (unaided) sighting of the new crescent moon will be highly unlikely in North America and worldwide. You can check the visibility forecast for your region here (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HBTWMP8bcAMqsPp?format=jpg&name=large). \nWe will make a determination and final announcement regarding the start of Ramadan as early as possible\, but no later than Tuesday\, 7:30 pm PT. Please go out to look for the new crescent moon and submit your moon-sighting report here (http://www.crescentwatch.org/cgi-bin/cw.cgi?action=2). \nThe crescent (hilal) would be visible shortly after sunset in the area above where the sun had set. It is a beautiful experience to witness its emergence\, and it is a sunnah of our noble Prophet ﷺ that we hope the ummah revives. Crescentwatch.org adheres to the traditional principle that Islamic lunar months begin and end based on the confirmed\, naked-eye sighting of the new crescent moon. \nRevive the Sunnah to go outside and look for the new crescent moon in the evening sky that will mark the beginning of Ramadan. \n\n\n\nJoin us in the MCC parking lot after Maghrib sunset prayers (5:53 p.m.) on Tuesday\, February 17\, 2026\, and join in the excitement when the young crescent moon (hilal) ushers in the Holy Month of Ramadan. The Tri-Valley Stargazers will be in the parking lot (weather permitting) with high-visibility telescopes\, allowing us to peer into the night sky starting at 6 p.m. \nJupiter\, Saturn\, and Mercury (possibly Venus) will be visible if the evening sky is clear. \n\n\n\n\n\n523 Southern Halal BBQ food truck will sell dinners\, and Habibi’s Falooda will provide dessert from 5 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. \n\n\n\nMCC adheres to the traditional principle that Islamic lunar months begin and end based on confirmed\, verified naked-eye sightings of the new crescent moon globally. MCC will confirm the start of Ramadan in its newsletter on the evening of February 17 (subscribe at https://mcceastbay.org/newsletter). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n– If the new moon is sighted on Tuesday\, the first night of Taraweeh will be after Isha (8 p.m.) on Tuesday\, February 17\, 2026\, and the first day of fasting will be Wednesday\, February 18\, 2026.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n– If the new moon is not sighted on Tuesday\, the first night of Taraweeh will be after Isha (8 p.m.) on Wednesday\, February 18\, 2026\, and the first day of fasting will be Thursday\, February 19\, 2026.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe MCC homepage (mcceastbay.org) and MCC’s automated phone menu (925-485-1786) will announce the start of Ramadan by about 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday\, February 17. \n\n\n\nSince sunset will be at 5:53\, we will likely be able to see the new moon by about 6:45 p.m. \n\n\n\nMCC observes the beginning and end of lunar months following the sighting of the crescent moon. Please watch this video by Dr. Youssef Ismail from Zaytuna College for an explanation. \nQuestions? events@mcceastbay.org \n\n\n\nThe du’a to recite if the crescent is sighted: \n\n\n\nاللَّهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالأَمْنِ وَالإِيمَانِ، والسَّلامَةِ والإِسْلامِ، وَالتَّوْفِيقِ لِمَا تُحِبُّ وَتَرْضَى، رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكَ اللهُ \n\n\n\nAllaahumma ahillahu ‛alaynaa bil-amni wal-eemaani\, was-salaamati wal-islaami\, wat-tawfeeqi limaa tuḥibbu watarḍaa\, rabunaa wa rabbuk-allaahu- \n\nO Allah\, let the crescent loom above us in peace and faith\, safety and Islam\, and in agreement with all that You love and pleases You. Our Lord and your Lord is Allah. \n\n(Source: Sunan Al- Tirmidhi) \n\n\n\nQari Amar Bellaha will also be in the Hayward Hills on this Tuesday evening to look for the new crescent moon. If sighted\, he will read the special dua from high atop the hills and head down to lead the Taraweeh prayers on Tuesday at 8 p.m. He will be live-streaming his moonsighting atop the Hayward Hills at https://mcceastbay.org/live \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Check out the exciting lineup below: \nWeek 1: Flower Pounding Ramadan Canvas Bags\nUsing the flower hammering technique\, we will gently transfer the natural colors and shapes of flowers and leaves mentioned in the Qur’an onto our canvas bags. Each plant reminds us of Allah’s signs in creation. Afterward\, you will personalize your bag with painted stencils to add a Ramadan message or name. Making something beautiful\, meaningful\, and uniquely yours to carry throughout this blessed month. \nWeek 2: Wooden Masjid Puzzle\nWooden Masjid Puzzle Art is a hands-on activity where participants decorate individual wooden puzzle pieces that come together to make a unique masjid. The pieces can be mixed and interchanged to create unique and beautiful designs\, reminding us that many different parts come together to form one community. \nWeek 3: Yarn Art\nYarn Painting is a hands-on art activity inspired by the traditional art of the Huichol people of Mexico. Yarn is pressed onto a sticky surface to create colorful\, textured designs. After drawing a simple outline or following the provided stencils\, yarn is placed along the lines or swirled freely to form vibrant\, tactile pictures that the kids will be able to frame for a memorable keepsake. \nWeek 4: DIY Eid Stickers\nDIY Eid Stickers is a creative activity where participants color pre-provided Eid-inspired images or design their own stickers. These stickers can be used to decorate Eid cards\, gifts\, or keepsakes\, adding a personal and joyful touch to Eid celebrations. \nFor those unable to attend in person\, we offer take-home craft kits for all four weeks. Pickup can be scheduled in advance. \nNote: No refunds are allowed due to the prior purchase of materials specific to each program.
