SUMMARY:Half Our Deen: A Matrimonial Event for Muslim Singles
DESCRIPTION:Calling all single sisters & brothers! Are you a single Muslim or Muslimah looking for the right partner to form a happy marriage? Then this event is for you. \nEvery four months\, the Matrimonial Teams at MCC East Bay & MCA Bay Area team with the much-lauded Half Our Deen platform (and Baba Ali) to run a thoughtful\, fun\, private quarterly matrimonial event that is a profound departure from the tired traditional match-making session and that uses personality questions & fun activities to help our singles sisters and brothers get closer to finding a spouse. \n \n \nThis is an appropriately done matrimonial event – from thoughtfully screening every application\, to an equal ratio of men to women\, and a fair chance for all to engage in a fun\, exciting way through activities that melt the awkwardness of a singles mixer. This event is co-hosted with MCC\, and the event venue will be shared only with approved applicants. \n \n \n11 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Saturday\, May 9\, 2026 | MCC East Bay Conference Room | $100/person | Register at https://mcceastbay.org/singles \nCo-hosted by Half Our Deen\, MCC East Bay\, and MCA Bay Area. \n \nFollowing the phenomenal success of our six previous quarterly HOD Live events\, we are thrilled to invite you to HOD Live on Saturday\, May 9\, 2026 — proudly sponsored and co-hosted by Half Our Deen\, MCC East Bay\, and MCA Bay Area. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\nIf you cannot make this event\, sign up for our notification list for the next quarterly event: https://mcceastbay.org/wait \n\nThis is a great place for single Muslim men and women between the ages of 22 and 55 from diverse communities to mix and interact in a safe\, professional setting. \n\nMCC has a standing policy that financial need should not hold a person back from benefiting from any event held in the MCC facility or cosponsored by MCC. To request a discounted or full financial waiver\, please visit https://mcceastbay.org/scholarship \n\nMeet like-minded single Muslims and find a suitable partner with us! \nAre you or someone you know is single and looking for a safe\, comfortable place to meet a potential partner? \nMaybe you have a family member who has been struggling to connect with someone? \nWe recognize that finding a potential spouse can be difficult. Trying to find a safe place to meet like-minded people isn’t always easy. The pandemic has made this even more challenging. \nIf you are interested in the opportunity to find a match and meet other like-minded Muslim singles\, this event is for you! \nA place for single Muslim men and women between the ages of 22 – 55 from diverse communities to mix and interact in a safe\, professional setting. \n\nThis event breaks from ineffective speed-dating matrimonial events and traditional match-making. This game-oriented event caters to the need for more creative and effective ways to meet and learn about others. Many premarital and personality questions are incorporated into the event activities to allow for a quick dip into meaningful relationship questions. \n\n\n\nThe Bay is filled with Muslim singles\, and we will sell out. \nThe process\n\n\n\n\nApplication Review: Our team carefully reviews your registration form to understand your preferences\, including the maximum age you would consider for marriage.\nMatching Process: We wait for other applicants to register to see if we have attendees within your specified age range. \nConfirmation: If we find suitable matches within your age preference\, we will send you a payment request to confirm your seat. If you do not receive an email\, it means that not enough people within your specified age range applied for this event. \nPriority for Early Applicants: Those who apply first get priority\, which is an advantage of applying early. Our events have limited seating\, typically accommodating 35-40 of each gender\, and we usually receive around 250 applicants per event. Our main goal is to create an environment where attendees genuinely care about one another\, ensuring a meaningful experience for everyone. If you have any further questions or need more information\, please feel free to reach out. We look forward to potentially having you join us! \n\n\n\n\nQuestions? muslimmarriageca@gmail.com or events@mcceastbay.org \nWhat to expect?\n\n\n\nFun \n\n\n\nWe don’t play musical chairs because relationships aren’t based on 3-minute conversations. So\, instead\, we have exclusive fun games and activities designed specifically for marriage-minded Muslims to help you naturally learn about each other. (Here is a sneak peek into an actual live event) \n\n\n\nFiltered \n\n\n\nWe are the only Muslim organization that filters our applicants and hand-picks every attendee. This allows us to select the most compatible members and helps ensure we have a balanced number of men and women at every event. \n\n\n\nProven \n\n\n\n61% of the attendees at our last event found a match. No other single event even comes close to the success of HD Live\, so it’s no surprise that about 25% of attendees travel (including flights from outside the state and country) to attend this exclusive event. \n\n\n\nPrivate \n\n\n\nOur closed-door events are at undisclosed locations because we take privacy very seriously. We believe that only the people attending the event should know you’re attending. In addition\, our HD Live app lets you show interest without fear of rejection\, since matches are sent privately at midnight only if the interest is mutual. \n\n\n\nFAQs from MCC\n\n\n\nWho can register?\n\n\n\nThis event is designed for Muslim singles from Northern California to meet privately and casually. Space is limited. Muslims from all states can apply\, but priority will be given to singles residing in Northern California\, particularly the San Francisco Bay Area. If our single sisters and brothers give positive feedback\, MCC cohosts these matrimonial events quarterly. \n\n\n\nWho is the moderator?\n\n\n\nBaba Ali\, the co-founder of Half Our Deen\, is an Iranian-born American comedian\, game developer\, businessman\, and actor. He co-founded the revolutionary matchmaking site Half Our Deen\, an alternative to the Muslim dating apps we see today. He is also the founder of Ummah Films\, a Muslim film company that attempts to provide Halal entertainment to Muslims and non-Muslims. Baba Ali rose to prominence within the online Muslim community with Ummah Films\, which discusses various Islamic topics using humor. \n\n\n\nBaba Ali has traveled the world\, performing stand-up for a wide range of Muslim and non-Muslim audiences. He has performed across the United States\, the United Kingdom\, and Canada\, for audiences as large as 37\,000 and of all ages. He has been reviewed in The New York Times\, USA Today\, and Los Angeles Times\, and featured in seven episodes of DirecTV’s The Fizz News. Ali Ardekani is a video blogger to his viewers as Baba Ali. \n\n\n\nWhy is MCC collaborating with Half Our Deen?\n\n\n\nHalf Our Deen is an expert in the Muslim matching department and has a proven system. Their website and offline match-making events use personality matching to help connect like-minded Muslims and create lasting matches. For the last 11 years\, the site has explicitly catered to marriage-minded Muslims and has over 2500+ success stories. Our event is modeled on their successful system. \n\n\n\nMCC East Bay is pleased to offer our single community in the Bay Area the ability to use Half Our Deen’s resources to search for a spouse. HOD is unique in offering personality testing\, high privacy standards\, and offline events\, which we believe will enhance the process for our single Muslims. \n\n\n\nEveryone deserves to find true love and happiness in marriage. MCC is privileged to be part of your life story by helping you meet the right person! \n\n\n\nHow does it work?\n\n\n\n\nPlease fill out the brief application\, which asks about yourself and who you are looking for. You will receive an email with the following steps within a few days. Add muslimmarriageca@gmail.com to your contacts to prevent bouncebacks and spam/promotional archiving.\n\n\n\nIf your application is accepted\, you will need to register for the event and make your payment to secure your seat.\n\n\n\nThe event will take place at a private location near Pleasanton\, California. Exact location details will be provided only to accepted attendees before the event.\n\n\n\n\nQuestions? muslimmarriageca@gmail.com \n\n\n\nI cannot afford the registration fee.\n\n\n\nMCC has a standing policy that financial need should not hold a person back from benefiting from any event held in the MCC facility or cosponsored by MCC. To request a discounted or full financial waiver\, please visit https://mcceastbay.org/scholarship \n\n\n\nIs there an age limit?\n\n\n\nThere is no age limit. This event is for adults 18+. Your selection for the event depends on the number of attendees in the same range who apply. \n\n\n\nTo increase the chances of successful matches\, we use a selection process to ensure quality and compatible candidates are in attendance. The goal is compatibility. For example\, if most applicants indicate that the maximum age they are looking for in a spouse is 40\, and you are older\, your application would not be accepted. However\, please don’t let this deter you from applying to our future events\, as acceptance criteria vary depending on who is used for each event. \n\n\n\nIs lunch offered?\n\n\n\nWe will have snacks\, coffee\, and tea. We will not have time for a full-fledged meal. Please ensure you have a hearty meal before the event begins at noon. \n\n\n\nWill I still receive confirmation of whether I am on the waiting list?\n\n\n\nIf it is determined that no compatible matches for you will be in attendance at the event\, you will be placed on a waiting list. As we receive more applications\, the criteria might change\, and you may still be invited to the event. We do our best to ask as many matches as possible to increase everyone’s chances of meeting the right person. If you still haven’t heard from us in the weeks leading up to the event\, no candidates have matched your criteria for this particular event. Please be patient and try again at another MCC matrimonial event (sign up for our newsletter at https://mcceastbay.org/newsletter). \n\n\n\nDo I need a HalfOurDeen membership to attend the event?\n\n\n\nYou do not need a HalfOurDeen membership to apply for this event; however\, accepted applicants must complete their profile on HOD to attend. You will need a profile on HalfOurDeen to participate\, since this singles event features unique online/offline interactions. If you’re not already a member of HalfOurDeen\, that’s no problem. HalfOurDeen is providing a 90-day free trial membership for all MCC event attendees. Please note that your trial membership ends after 90 days\, so you won’t be charged until the 31st. You can cancel right after the event if you choose. One advantage is that after meeting people at the event\, you can learn more about them from their online profiles before connecting. An HOD-free membership will allow you to view anyone’s profile who is also registered with the site. This way\, there is no need to exchange personal information at the event\, and all follow-up communication can be conducted safely through the HOD website afterward. \n\n\n\nHow do you screen applicants?\n\n\n\nDuring the application process\, applicants will answer a questionnaire that tells us a little about them and what they are looking for (or not). Answers are then compared with those of all other applicants to determine who can attend\, increasing the chances of successful matches based on compatibility and personality. \n\n\n\nWhy was my application not accepted?\n\n\n\nTo increase the chances of successful matches\, we use a selection process to ensure quality and compatible candidates are in attendance. The goal is compatibility. For example\, if most applicants indicate that the maximum age they are looking for in a spouse is 40\, and you are older\, your application would not be accepted. However\, please don’t let this deter you from applying to our future events\, as acceptance criteria vary by event. \n\nCan I bring a family member or a friend to the event?\n\n\n\nNo. This event is specifically tailored to applicants who are accepted based on the information provided during the application process. Everything from the games played to the seating chart is specific to those who have secured a spot. That is why only those who have applied and been accepted can attend. Moreover\, this is a private event\, and to protect the privacy of others\, only those who have been accepted will be given specific event details that must not be shared with anyone. Please encourage your friends who want to attend to apply! To keep this event as private as possible\, only the candidates may attend. Our committee members will do their best to keep all interactions focused and to monitor them throughout the event. \n\n\n\nWhat should I do if I haven’t received a confirmation email?\n\n\n\nIf you have not received a payment submission email after completing your application\, we are receiving a high volume of applications and are still processing them. If you still haven’t heard from us within 30 days of the event\, no candidates match your criteria at this particular event. If you have any questions about the selection process\, please watch this https://youtu.be/NqHiZXhWtcw \n\n\n\nHow is this event different from other Muslim matrimonial events held in NorCal?\n\n\n\nWe are making every effort to ensure our event is professionally organized and aligned with Islamic principles. Unlike other events\, we will thoroughly vet all applicants through a detailed application process. This process will ensure that the attendees are serious about marriage and that there are enough attendees of the opposite gender\, potentially compatible with *you* and your preferences. We will try our best to have as close to a 50:50 ratio of females to males as possible. \n\n\n\nWe will offer a wide variety of structured activities to help you discover your potential in a low-key\, pressure-free\, and fun way. Our activities will be structured so people of all personality types can easily participate. So whether introverted\, extroverted\, or somewhere in the middle\, you can participate in all the activities quickly—and\, more importantly\, get to know the potential in the process. You can also have the peace of mind knowing that no one will be in the spotlight at any time. \n\n\n\nTo align with Islamic principles\, chaperones will continuously monitor our event\, ensuring that all interactions remain professional and focused. They will also be there to help facilitate conversation and answer questions as necessary. \n\n\n\nCan I be sure that the information on my application will be kept private?\n\n\n\nAbsolutely. This is our Amanah (trust)\, and we will not release your information to anyone without your permission. Your application will only be reviewed by the HOD Offline staff. \n\n\n\nI am worried that others might discover I will be at this event. How will the event be kept private?\n\n\n\nThe only people who know that you will be at the event…are those at the event (and\, of course\, the people you tell). The MCC Matrimony Committee or HOD Offline will not inform anyone of your attendance. We are also keeping the event location private. Once you have fully registered and paid\, the venue address will be sent to you only. So please do not share the event location with anyone! \n\n\n\nIs there a dress code?\n\n\n\nOur only dress code is that your clothing must comply with Islamic principles (clothing cannot be revealing\, tight\, or see-through). Other than that\, feel free to express your personality! Remember that you want to protect yourself best while remaining modest and genuine. \n\n\n\nI do not wear a headscarf in public. Do I have to wear one to the event?\n\n\n\nAlthough we highly encourage everyone to dress as closely as possible in accordance with Islamic principles\, we will not require you to wear a headscarf\, as the event is not in a masjid prayer space. That said\, anyone dressed inappropriately will not be allowed to participate in the event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n

SUMMARY:Interfaith Connect of the Tri-Valley | Ust. Feraidoon Mojadedi
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging evening of dialogue and reflection as we explore a profound and timeless question: What does your religion teach about the presence of evil in the world? This interfaith gathering brings together diverse perspectives to foster understanding\, thoughtful conversation\, and community connection. \nThe event will feature speakers Gina Badura from the Livermore Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Ustadh Feraidoon Mojadedi from the Muslim Community Center East Bay\, who will share insights from their respective traditions. Following the discussion\, attendees are invited to join optional breakout groups for more personal\, interactive conversations. \nCome with your questions\, curiosity\, and an open mind as we learn from one another in a respectful and welcoming environment. \nWednesday\, May 13\, 2026 | 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. | Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints\, 950 Mocho Ave.\, Livermore \nQuestions? interfaith.interconnect@gmail.com events@mcceastbay.org \nUstadh Feraidoon Mojadedi is one of the most well-known and respected community leaders\, lecturers\, and entrepreneurs in the Bay Area\, California. He was born in Herat\, Afghanistan\, and immigrated with his family to America during the Russian invasion of Afghanistan in 1985. After graduating from American High School and Chabot College\, he attended San Francisco State University\, where he majored in history. He grew up in a household with a deep love and reverence for poetry. At the age of five\, he began to memorize poems by Rumi and other great poets. His love of poetry continued to grow and eventually developed into a passion and calling that would allow him to teach regular classes on Rumi throughout California\, the U.S.\, the U.K.\, Canada\, Australia\, Malaysia\, Germany\, and even as far as Konya\, Turkey\, where Mawlana Rumi is laid to rest. The nuances of the Farsi language\, in which he is fluent\, allow him to bring Rumi’s poetry to life and help listeners recognize Rumi’s essential message of peace\, love\, coexistence\, and connection with the Divine. He is the author and performer of the “Layla & Majnun” play produced by Performing Lines in Perth\, Australia. Ustadh Feraidoon Mojadedi spends his free time reading\, studying\, and lecturing on a wide range of topics\, including Rumi\, Farsi poetry\, spirituality\, and self-development. He currently lives with his wife and two children in Dublin\, California. \n  \nGina Badura is a Dublin resident and mother to an incredible 23-year-old daughter\, I am currently navigating an exciting career transition. Following a rewarding 20-year career in veterinary medicine\, I am now a student at BYU-Idaho\, working toward a degree in Marriage and Family Studies with a graduation date of December 2026. I am deeply passionate about supporting women\, currently serving as a facilitator for the ‘Sisters Supporting Sisters in Christ’ support group. When the books are closed and the timecard is punched\, you’ll find me ‘practicing’ my yoga flow\, hitting the trails\, or tracking down the best sushi in town! \n  \n               Interfaith Interconnect monthly “Chats.” \n   Tri-Valley Interfaith Interconnect meets on the second Wednesday of every month at a different Worship Community location in Livermore and Pleasanton. \nThe meetings begin and end promptly at 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.\, respectively\, so that you can make other commitments that evening if needed. At an early age\, he attended halaqas on Quranic recitation\, Tajweed\, Hadith\, and Aqida under prominent Syrian scholars\, including Dr. Mohammed Rateb al-Nabulsi and Shaykh Bassam Ajek of the Abu Nour Islamic Institute. After completing his undergraduate studies in engineering\, Mohammad moved to the United States to pursue a graduate degree. He has continued his Islamic studies abroad—focusing on the blessed Seerah\, Hadith collections\, and Hadith terminology—and has earned certificates under scholars such as Sheik Ghazwan Shurbaji and Sayydi Sheik Samer Alnass\, and is currently studying Hanafi Fiqh with Ustadh Tarif Arabi. \nAbout Circles of Light\nCircles of Light is a fledgling educational initiative focused on sharing sacred learnings and wisdom for the benefit of the community\, meant to assist in maximizing Dunya (this life) for our Deen (Faith). He gives wisdom to whomever He wills. Whoever is given wisdom has been given much good. But none pays heed except those with insight. (Quran). We are motivated by the words of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); the most beloved people to Allah are those most beneficial to the people. (Hadith). We seek to achieve this aim through our in-person educational programs and publications. \nAlmighty Allah ﷻ directs us in Sūratul Aḥzāb\, “Verily\, Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Messenger of Allah. You who believe invoke blessings on him and salute him with a worthy salutation.” Our purpose of invoking blessings upon the Beloved ﷺ leads to proximity to Almighty Allah ﷻ by obeying this command while simultaneously fulfilling our rights upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. It is crystal clear how vital the invocation of Ṣalawāt is for the believer\, and it is a Mercy of Almighty Allah ﷻ for its rewards to be multitudinous. Abundant Ṣalawāt upon the Beloved ﷺ leads to loving him and knowing his beautiful qualities. By that virtue\, degrees of purity are realized. From the signs of the people of the Sunnah is sending Ṣalawāt upon him\, for the key to all goodness is Ṣalawāt upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. \n\n– More Tri-Valley and East Bay Mawlid celebrations: https://mcceastbay.org/mawlid\n– More about celebrating the Prophet (peace be upon him)’s day of birth: https://seekersguidance.org/answers/general-counsel/innovation-bida-and-celebrating-the-prophets-birthday-mawlid

The heart is the ruler of this Kingdom\, and the rest of the body is its subjects. If the heart rules with justice and excellence\, the body will perform good actions\, and the Kingdom will flourish. If the heart neglects its duties\, the body will disobey Allah\, and the entire Kingdom will suffer the consequences. Allah ﷻ made this Kingdom so crucial that through it the eternal and everlasting dominion of the next life is either gained or lost.” The Kingdom of the Heart by Habib ‘Umar Bin Hafiz gives the reader a deeper understanding of the importance of cultivating the spiritual kingdom of the heart. Readers will gain a deeper appreciation of how outward actions have spiritual consequences. Some of the topics covered are: • The Tongue & Its Effects • Looking at Creation with Love & Mercy • The Impact of Shaking Hands • Attending to the Ending of Our Lives • The Impact of Intention This book uniquely shows the direct correlation between outward actions and the heart\, giving us insights into how various actions impact the state of our hearts. Ultimately\, it gives us a way to internalize the wisdom and purpose of acts of devotion\, resulting in the purification of the heart and nearness to Allah ﷻ. \nAbout the Author\nHabib Umar bin Hafiz (Arabic: حبيب عمر بن حفيظ\, romanized: Ḥabīb ʿUmar bin Ḥafīẓ; Arabic pronunciation: [ħabiːb ʕumar bin ħafiːðˤ]; born 27 May 1963) is a Yemeni Sunni and Sufi Islamic scholar\, teacher\, and founder and dean of Dar al-Mustafa Islamic seminary.[3] He is also a Supreme Advisory Council member for the Tabah Foundation in Abu Dhabi. \nUstadh Tariq Samady\nUstadh Tariq Samady is a native of the Bay Area with roots in the ancient city of Kabul. SUMMARY:MCC Youth Group Hike
DESCRIPTION:(High Schoolers grades 9–12): Join MYG (MCC Youth Group) for a fun and refreshing Youth Hike at Sunol Regional Wilderness Reserve. This event is designed to give youth an opportunity to connect with nature\, build friendships\, and enjoy an active day outdoors. \nTo ensure a comfortable and organized experience\, the hike will be staggered with separate times for brothers and sisters. The brothers’ group will begin at 11:00 AM\, while the sisters’ group will begin at 11:30 AM. The sisters’ hike will be led by Miss Uroosa\, MCC Youth Coordinator\, alongside 3–4 adults (21+) per group to provide supervision and support throughout the event. Snacks and water will be provided\, but everyone should bring their own lunch for a picnic-style meal on our hike! \nPlease Note: We will begin our hike promptly at 11 a.m./11:30 a.m.\, respectively. If there is no group waiting\, then the hike has begun. There is no cell reception and we will not be responsible for children who arrive late\, so parents will be required to bring their children back home. \nCome prepared for a day of hiking\, reflection\, and community in the outdoors! \n11 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Sunday\, May 17th | Sunol Regional Wilderness Park | Free | Register at mcceastbay.org/youth-hike  | Join us in person only  \nQuestions? events@mcceastbay.org  \n  \nAbout this Trail:  \nThis stunning park of rugged peaks and beautiful vistas has a remote wilderness feel. Its 6\,859 acres of wilderness were once home to the area’s first inhabitants and then became vast ranchlands. Today it offers hiking\, nature study\, backpacking\, and picnicking; it draws thousands of visitors annually. The Old Green Barn Visitor Center offers naturalist-led programs that bring to life the history of the park or interpret its natural features. At its higher reaches\, the park features large outcroppings of rocks that offer a glimpse into its marine origins. \nThese lands have been ranch lands since the early 1800s. Today\, camping\, picnicking\, hiking\, backpacking\, and equestrian trails attract thousands of visitors every year. Little Yosemite is a scenic gorge on the creek. Cave Rocks provides a challenge to rock climbers. There is little water available in the park beyond the Visitor Center; be sure to bring adequate supplies with you on the trail. \n

SUMMARY:Quarterly Red Cross Blood Drive @ MCC Jumu’ahs
DESCRIPTION:As people of faith\, it is in our blood to help. With a 15-minute blood donation\, you can be part of a lifesaving journey that could save up to three lives. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe MCC community has saved nearly 420 lives! This is our 36th Jumu’ah blood drive\, and each has always been fully booked! \n\n\n\nLet’s continue that trajectory at this blood drive and keep all our American Red Cross guests busy when they set up in our Banquet Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on three Fridays in 2026. Sign up at: HTTP://mcceastbay.org/blood-drive. Here are the Jumu’ah Friday prayer service times: HTTP://mcceastbay.org/prayer \n\n\n\nIn 2026\, MCC will proudly host these quarterly blood drives during Jumuah services from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with our friends at the American Red Cross & Stanford Blood Center: \n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, February 6\, 2026 (Stanford Blood Center)\nFriday\, May 22\, 2026 (American Red Cross)\nFriday\, July 31\, 2026 (American Red Cross)\nFriday\, September 25\, 2026 (American Red Cross)\nFriday\, December 11\, 2026 (American Red Cross)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe need for blood is constant\, and only volunteer donors can meet it for patients in our community. Nationwide\, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds\, and most of us will need blood at some point in our lives. A Power Red donation targets only O-\, O+\, A-\, and B—blood types. It takes 20-30 minutes because donors give two units of concentrated Red Blood Cells\, and platelets and plasma are returned. Blood diversity is essential. Now more than ever\, the American Red Cross needs the help of black blood donors. \n\n\n\nBlood donors report feeling a strong sense of satisfaction after donating blood. Why? Because helping others in need feels good. \n\n\n\nIf you have visited India\, Pakistan\, or another high-risk malaria country and returned within the last 12 months\, you are not eligible to donate blood. See the latest travel-related restrictions to blood donation eligibility. \n\n\n\nEvery person who donates blood at MCC will receive a voucher for a free meal at IniBurger—Gourmet Burgers in Pleasanton. MCC congregation members Leeza and Abdullah Popal\, who own these establishments\, generously donate these vouchers to encourage community and congregation participation. \n\n\n\nMCC Youth: If you are 16 to 18\, here are the donor requirements and the link to the parental authorization form. \n\n\n\nOn the morning of the blood drive\, please complete the Rapid Pass online and bring the print-off to speed up the check-in process. Complete at https://mcceastbay.org/rapid \nQuestions? events@mcceastbay.org \nMCC strongly encourages our congregation of African heritage and groups aligned with the African American community. Patients with Sickle Cell Disease often require frequent transfusions\, and the most compatible blood is more likely to come from donors with similar backgrounds. Increasing participation from the Muslim community can help improve health outcomes and ensure that these patients receive the care they deserve. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Download the Red Cross Blood Donor App on the App Store\, Google Play\, or text BLOODAPP to 90999. Schedule appointments\, view your blood type and mini-physical results\, and track your donations. \n

Police are investigating the attack as a hate crime. \nThe three men killed were not strangers to one another\, and they were not strangers to the hundreds of families who walk through the doors of that center every week. They were the people who made it run. \nAmin Abdullah was the security guard. He was a father of eight. When two gunmen opened fire outside the building\, Amin stood his ground — and the San Diego Police Chief publicly credited him with “playing a pivotal role in keeping this from being much worse.” Teachers\, staff\, and more than a dozen children walked safely out of that building that afternoon because of what Amin did. He paid for that with his life. \n \nNader Awad was a community member and neighbor of the center\, and lived just across the street. When he heard the gunfire\, he ran toward it\, toward his wife and the community that was his entire life. He did not make it back across that street. \n \nAbul Ezz (Mansour Kaziha) worked in the center’s food store and was part of the daily rhythm of the masjid — one of the people who kept the community fed\, welcomed\, and at home in their own house of worship. \n \nTo God we belong\, and to God we return. \nWe pray that the deceased are in the highest levels of paradise. We ask God to envelope the loved ones left behind with His mercy and comfort in this time of extreme difficulty. The Muslim community is in grief and pain. \n\n\n\nThe Prophet ﷺ said: \n\n\n\n“The example of the believers in their mutual love\, mercy\, and compassion is like one body: when one part of the body suffers\, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever.” \n\n\n\nNarrated by Al-Nu’man ibn Bashir in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCommunity Security Safety Message \nThis is a Time for Prayer\, Unity\, and Vigilance.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAssalamu Alaikum\, Beloved MCC Community\,Like many of you\, we are heartbroken by today’s attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego (ICSD). Three members of our wider ummah were killed in a place that should have been a religious sanctuary\, including a security guard whose actions\, by all accounts\, saved many more lives. \nInna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Indeed\, we belong to Allah\, and indeed to Him we return. \nOur prayers are with the victims\, their families\, and the entire San Diego Muslim community. At MCC\, we are implementing additional safety measures and working with the Pleasanton Police Department\, which is providing support. In the coming days\, we will ask for your cooperation\, even when it may be inconvenient. To help ensure the safety of our congregation\, we have arranged for armed security personnel to be present during our weekly Friday prayers and our upcoming Eid prayers. We will review and\, where needed\, adjust our security and operational procedures so that our beloved masjid remains a place where you and your families feel safe to pray\, learn\, and gather. We ask our community members to remain especially vigilant\, park only in designated areas\, stay alert\, and immediately report any suspicious activity to mcc-listens@mcceastbay.org.Also\, this Friday\, May 22\, alongside our interfaith allies & local city officials\, we will hold a community vigil in the MCC parking lot right after our last Jumu’ah service ends\, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. We will have banners for everyone to sign and for our kids to draw messages of support from us that we will send to the San Diego Muslim community. More details in this Thursday’s newsletter. For those in the community experiencing grief\, anxiety\, or emotional distress in the wake of this tragedy\, our community mental health partner Maristan offers professional\, faith-centered counseling & support for children\, teens & adults.May Allah protect our mosques and communities. In Service\,MCC Board of Directorsmcc-listens@mcceastbay.org \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nShoulder to Shoulder Campaign Statement on the Deadly Shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShoulder to Shoulder Campaign\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs a national multifaith coalition\, the Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign unequivocally condemns the tragic\, deadly violence committed at the Islamic Center of San Diego\, and joins the greater San Diego community in solidarity and prayers for safety and healing. \nThis shooting targeting San Diego’s largest mosque comes in the wake of heightened anti-Muslim rhetoric\, including from elected officials. In recent months\, politicians and public voices have stoked fear and spread misinformation about American Muslims\, often casting them in dehumanizing ways and even claiming they do not belong in the country. When this kind of hateful rhetoric is normalized\, it lays the groundwork for violence and places entire communities at risk. While details are still emerging about the San Diego shooting\, three Muslim community members have been killed and authorities are investigating the shooting as a hate crime. \nAs people of faith\, we affirm that every person possesses inherent dignity and we reject language which dehumanizes anyone — whether it is used to fuel violence here at home or to justify war abroad. Here in the U.S.\, where religious freedom and freedom of conscience are founding ideals\, everyone deserves to worship and go to school safely\, no matter their faith or cultural background. No one should fear violence when they walk into their place of prayer or learning. \nWe pray that this tragedy awakens the conscience of those who have perpetuated and condoned the harmful and dehumanizing narratives about Muslims that have become so prevalent. As members of our coalition declared in a prayerful appeal to leaders on Capitol Hill this spring\, “The promise of equality\, freedom\, liberty\, dignity\, justice in America is not just for some\, but for all… We reject the scapegoating of our Muslims neighbors and we call on our elected leaders\, fellow faith leaders\, and all people of goodwill to stand shoulder to shoulder.” \nWe mourn with the community of the Islamic Center of San Diego and Muslim communities who are feeling this impact just days before Eid-al-Adha. As people of faith working to address hate among us and build more pluralistic communities\, we commit to holding our standard of dignity\, respect\, and fairness for all of us\, no exceptions. We call upon all people of faith and goodwill to interrupt harmful and dehumanizing narratives whenever we encounter it among us.
