He also teaches Islamic Studies at ILM Tree and he serves as Convert Care Coordinator for Ta’leef Collective. “I want people to feel the true beauty of Islam when they encounter Ta’leef. Was not our Prophet (upon him peace and blessings) the radiant embodiment of outer and inner beauty? One who saw him was in awe\, and one who knew him fell in love. I hope Taleef translates that experiential beauty to a relevant American context while honoring the ethos and principles of the rich Islamic tradition.” Ustadh Mahdy Amine was born and raised in Chicago. Attending Universal School\, he served as captain of the high school basketball team\, then graduated from Loyola University Chicago at the age of 19 with a double bachelor in economics and political science\, and after that from the University of Minnesota School of Law-all while serving as President of the Muslim Students Association at each respective institution. Concurrent with his studies and work\, Mahdy helped found CAIR Chicago\, has been teaching for nearly 20 years\, and served as a member of the band Noorification\, which released two albums\, and four music videos\, and performed at over 100 national and international venues. Mahdy is married\, has three little girls\, and is blessed to be a survivor. In 2012\, Mahdy resigned from his job as Corporate Counsel for Dell Corporation to attend Zaytuna College\, the first-ever accredited Muslim liberal arts college in the US\, graduating with the first class in 2014. He then visited and studied briefly in Tarim\, Yemen. Her desire to continue studying the Deen resulted in multiple trips back to Damascus\, interspersed between her high school\, college\, and medical studies. She was honored to receive Ijaazah (authorization to teach) several branches of the Shari’ah sciences at the hands of many renowned scholars\, including many female scholars. She has received Ijazah to teach Tajwid in the Hafs and Warsh recitations from the late eminent Syrian scholar Shaykh Abu Hassan al-Kurdi. In addition to completing several advanced texts of the Shafi’i madhhab\, she is licensed to teach texts of Maliki fiqh\, Adab\, and Ihsan. Currently\, Ustadha Rania teaches online and local classes for The Rahmah Foundation\, Rabata\, and is on the faculty of Zaytuna College\, where she teaches courses in Shafi’i fiqh\, women’s issues in fiqh and has helped develop and co-direct the Tajweed and Hifz program. \n\n\n\nUstadha Rania is also a medical doctor with a specialty in Psychiatry. She completed her Psychiatric residency and fellowship training at Stanford University\, where she is currently on the faculty as a Clinical Instructor in the Stanford Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences department. Her medical interests include addressing mental health care concerns in the Muslim community- particularly that of Muslim women and girls. She has been awarded grants from the NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health) to research this topic and has presented her findings at several medical conferences. Other ongoing endeavors include compiling manuscripts addressing female-related mental health and medical issues from a fiqh-oriented perspective. She currently serves as the Director of the Rahmah Foundation\, a non-profit organization that teaches Muslim women and girls traditional Islamic knowledge. In this capacity\, she also heads the Murbbiyah Mentoring Program\, which trains young women to teach and mentor Muslim girls and teens. Facility map: https://mcceastbay.org/facility-map \n\n\n\nQuestions? events@mcceastbay.org \n\n\n\nThis halaqa is hosted parallel to our girl’s program in partnership with Rahmah Foundation. \n\n\n\nUstadha Rania AwaadRaised in the U.S.\, Ustadha Rania Awaad began her formal study of the traditional Islamic sciences when her parents permitted her to travel to Damascus\, Syria\, at 14. Her desire to continue studying the Deen resulted in multiple trips back to Damascus\, interspersed between her high school\, college\, and medical studies. She was honored to receive Ijaazah (authorization to teach) several branches of the Shari’ah sciences at the hands of many renowned scholars\, including many female scholars. She has received Ijazah to teach Tajwid in the Hafs and Warsh recitations from the late eminent Syrian scholar Shaykh Abu Hassan al-Kurdi. In addition to completing several advanced texts of the Shafi’i madhhab\, she is licensed to teach texts of Maliki fiqh\, Adab\, and Ihsan. Currently\, Ustadha Rania teaches online and local classes for The Rahmah Foundation\, Rabata\, and is on the faculty of Zaytuna College\, where she teaches courses in Shafi’i fiqh\, women’s issues in fiqh and has helped develop and co-direct the Tajweed and Hifz program. \n\n\n\nUstadha Rania is also a medical doctor with a specialty in Psychiatry. She completed her Psychiatric residency and fellowship training at Stanford University\, where she is currently on the faculty as a Clinical Instructor in the Stanford Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences department. Her medical interests include addressing mental health care concerns in the Muslim community- particularly that of Muslim women and girls. She has been awarded grants from the NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health) to research this topic and has presented her findings at several medical conferences. Other ongoing endeavors include compiling manuscripts addressing female-related mental health and medical issues from a fiqh-oriented perspective. She currently serves as the Director of the Rahmah Foundation\, a non-profit organization that teaches Muslim women and girls traditional Islamic knowledge. In this capacity\, she also heads the Murbbiyah Mentoring Program\, which trains young women to teach and mentor Muslim girls and teens. The group can wait till 7:10 a.m. and will start the hike. Please be on time since we cannot hold the group.\n\n\n\n– Carpool: Highly recommend carpooling. No carpool from MCC is available for this hike. At the age of 12\, he moved with his family to Egypt to learn and study Arabic. In 2006\, he moved to Tarim\, Yemen\, and at the age of 14\, began studying at the prestigious Dar al-Mustafa Institute for Islamic Studies. He graduated with honors from Dar al-Mustafa’s rigorous Alamiyya Program. The three-year program is the highest level of Shariah studies offered at Dar al-Mustafa in Tarim\, Yemen\, and is preceded by seven years of classical training in the ancillary\, revelatory\, and theoretical sciences. \n\n\n\nAfter ten years of meticulous full-time study with qualified scholars\, Shaykh Zakariya was appointed a lecturer at Dar al-Mustafa. He has been granted authorizations (ijaza) in the fields of Canonical Qur’anic Recitations (‘ilm al-qira’at)\, Hadith Narration and Understanding (Riwaya wa Dirayat al-Hadith)\, and Islamic Law (Fiqh) in the Shafi School. \n\n\n\nShaykh Zakaria is also qualified to teach Qur’anic Exegesis (tafsir al-Qur’an)\, Ethics (‘ilm al-akhlaq)\, Legal Theory (usul al-fiqh)\, Ilm al-Kalam (Scholastic Theology)\, Logic (mantiq)\, Dialectics (al-bahth wa al-munazara)\, Arabic morphology (sarf) Arabic grammar (nahw)\, Arabic rhetoric (balagha)\, and Arabic literature (adab). \n\n\n\nHis teachers include Habib Umar bin Hafiz\, Habib Ali al-Mashhur bin Hafiz\, Habib Abu Bakr al-Adani al-Mashhur\, Habib Muhammad bin Abdullah al-Aydarus\, Shaykh Umar al-Khatib\, and others. \n\n\n\nIn late 2021\, Shaykh Zakaria Abdelaziz returned to Canada and currently serves as imam at Masjid Vaughan and instructor at Dar al-Burhan.

DESCRIPTION:MCC’s popular Islamic-themed playgroup is back! \n\n\n\nIn this five-week spring session\, our toddlers and pre-schoolers (ages 1-5) will develop love for Islam\, Allah (swt)\, and RasulAllah (saw) through book reading\, sing-alongs\, Parachute Time\, activities\, and more! \n\n\n\nThursdays\, 5/11\, 5/18\, 5/25\, 6/1\, & 6/8 | 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. | Kindergarten Area | $65 for five sessions or $20 per session | Register at HTTP://mcceastbay.org/happyhearts \n\n\n\nThese Mommy & Me sessions are designed for girls and boys ages one to four who are accompanied by a female guardian. Moms\, grandmothers\, and so on are welcome. Her desire to continue studying the Deen resulted in multiple trips back to Damascus\, interspersed between her high school\, college\, and medical studies. She was honored to receive Ijaazah (authorization to teach) several branches of the Shari’ah sciences at the hands of many renowned scholars\, including many female scholars. She has received Ijazah to teach Tajwid in the Hafs and Warsh recitations from the late eminent Syrian scholar Shaykh Abu Hassan al-Kurdi. In addition to completing several advanced texts of the Shafi’i madhhab\, she is licensed to teach texts of Maliki fiqh\, Adab\, and Ihsan. Currently\, Ustadha Rania teaches online and local classes for The Rahmah Foundation\, Rabata\, and is on the faculty of Zaytuna College\, where she teaches courses in Shafi’i fiqh\, women’s issues in fiqh and has helped develop and co-direct the Tajweed and Hifz program. \n\n\n\nUstadha Rania is also a medical doctor with a specialty in Psychiatry. She completed her Psychiatric residency and fellowship training at Stanford University\, where she is currently on the faculty as a Clinical Instructor in the Stanford Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences department. Her medical interests include addressing mental health care concerns in the Muslim community- particularly that of Muslim women and girls. She has been awarded grants from the NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health) to research this topic and has presented her findings at several medical conferences. Other ongoing endeavors include compiling manuscripts addressing female-related mental health and medical issues from a fiqh-oriented perspective. She currently serves as the Director of the Rahmah Foundation\, a non-profit organization that teaches Muslim women and girls traditional Islamic knowledge. In this capacity\, she also heads the Murbbiyah Mentoring Program\, which trains young women to teach and mentor Muslim girls and teens. She has conducted art classes in painting\, crafts\, and other fine arts\, both in person and on Zoom\, and she has showcased her Islamic art and calligraphy at community art fairs. She has also served as a Kindergarten teacher at the MCC Sunday School and Ilm Academy in Fremont.

DESCRIPTION:MCC’s popular Islamic-themed playgroup is back! \n\n\n\nIn this five-week spring session\, our toddlers and pre-schoolers (ages 1-5) will develop love for Islam\, Allah (swt)\, and RasulAllah (saw) through book reading\, sing-alongs\, Parachute Time\, activities\, and more! \n\n\n\nThursdays\, 5/11\, 5/18\, 5/25\, 6/1\, & 6/8 | 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. | Kindergarten Area | $65 for five sessions or $20 per session | Register at HTTP://mcceastbay.org/happyhearts \n\n\n\nThese Mommy & Me sessions are designed for girls and boys ages one to four who are accompanied by a female guardian. Moms\, grandmothers\, and so on are welcome. This is also a great opportunity to connect with other moms and caretakers in the MCC community.  \n\n\n\nOur Mommy and Me sessions begin with dua and a salaam/greeting song and end with the Fi-Amanillah song and kid-favorite parachute time. \n\n\n\nThe sessions are on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. starting on May 11.
