New students cannot join beyond the first week of classes. Interested students may attend the first day to see if the class fits them. \n\n\n\nMCC has a standing policy that financial need should never hold a person back from attaining knowledge offered within the four walls of MCC the facility. To request a financial waiver or discount\, please complete: https://mcceastbay.org/scholarship \n\n\n\nQuestions? events@mcceastbay.org \n\n\n\nAbout the instructor \n\n\n\nNearly a decade ago\, Br. Samee Siddiqui reached a point where he was not satisfied reading the Qur’an without understanding the meaning directly. This drove him to begin his lifelong journey as a student of the Arabic language and the Qur’an. He began his studies by completing the Bayyinah Institute Dream Program under Imam Adam Jamal (the author of Understand Quranic Arabic) and Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan. Thereafter he continued studying through Cambridge Islamic College and Fawakih Institute.  \n\n\n\nHe has taught Arabic recitation to beginners through Qur’an Revolution\, and served as a TA for Bayyinah’s Access program. He loves to connect with the Qur’an and help others to do the same through understanding the beauty of its language unfiltered. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSemester 1 for Levels 1\, 2\, 3  \n\n\n\nStart: October 4\, 2023  \n\n\n\nEnd: December 23\, 2023  \n\n\n\n2 sessions per week for 11 weeks\, with breaks for normal school holidays  \n\n\n\n\nWednesday 7 – 9 pm \n\n\n\nSaturday 2 – 4 pm \n\n\n\n\nHolidays \n\n\n\n\nWeek of Nov 20 \n\n\n\nWeek of Dec 25 \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFAQ for Students: \n\n\n\nWhat are the prerequisites for this class? \n\n\n\nBeing able to read the Qur’an in Arabic is a prerequisite for this class. You do not need to be \n\n\n\nfast or fluent. You do not need to know Tajweed or be able to write in Arabic. \n\n\n\nIs there an age requirement?  \n\n\n\nWe’ve had students from ages 8-70+ in our classes\, and they’ve all enjoyed it and benefitted. We recommend children under 10 attend with their parents.  \n\n\n\nWill there be homework?  \n\n\n\nMost of the work is done in class\, sometimes\, small amounts are assigned as homework.  \n\n\n\nWhat if I have to miss a day?  \n\n\n\nThe course is easy to follow\, and most of the work is completed in class. If you’re unsure\, please email your instructor [email to be added].  \n\n\n\nTip: Invite a family member or friend to attend with you who can help you keep up. \n\n\n\nWhat curriculum will we be using?  \n\n\n\nWe will be using the Quranic Arabic curriculum by Imam Adam Jamal from getquranic.com\, it has been taught to hundreds of students with great success.  \n\n\n\nThe objective of the course is to learn the words and grammar that are low-hanging fruit and makeup 80% of the Quran. This simplicity and ease are part of the Quran’s miracle. With this course\, you will be able to start your journey in learning the language of the Quran. We will learn Quranic words\, phrases\, and Arabic sentence structure to put all of it together. Students will also play quiz games to review the material and have fun competing with their classmates.  \n\n\n\nWhat is your expected outcome for this course? \n\n\n\nOver the course of a few months\, students will have a solid understanding of fundamental Arabic Nahw (grammar)\, Arabic Sarf (morphology)\, common Quranic vocabulary\, and the ability to translate parts of the Qur’an\, and gain a greater appreciation for Allah’s book. \n\n\n\nThis course will be an introductory Arabic class\, designed to teach students new to the Arabic language\, how to begin to understand the Qur’an\, and set the foundation for their future learning and engaging with primary Islamic sources. \n\n\n\nThe textbook teaches Arabic concepts in simple and straightforward English\, easy for the beginner student to learn on a part time basis. That being said\, the content is still thorough enough to take students with no prior experience to a level of proficiency in the fundamentals and ability to understand parts of the Qur’an. \n\n\n\nThe instructor is a graduate of Bayyinah Institute’s Dream Program\, and he has a solid foundation in classical Arabic\, for the purpose for understanding the Qur’an in its written and recited form. \n\n\n\nWill this class series continue? \n\n\n\nContingent on student interest\, MCC will host this session beyond this first session\, which covers levels one to three.  \n\n\n\nWith sufficient interest\, the second semester will cover levels four to six starting in January 2024 and suspend during Ramadan. \n\n\n\nTestimonials from previous UQA students: \n\n\n\n“This class was an excellent way to accelerate my journey towards learning Quranic Arabic. The course is definitely made for those who haven’t learned Arabic\, but it is also a great way for previous Arabic students\, such as myself\, to return to the high-yield Arabic needed to understand what we are reciting in prayer. it is a great way to begin your journey towards understanding the Qur’an!”  \n\n\n\n“Maash’Allah\, the class was very interactive and lively\, and dare I say\, fun. I wish my old Sunday school were consistently the same.”  \n\n\n\n“I wish I had taken a class like this earlier.”  \n\n\n\n“This is a one-of-a-kind\, self-paced class that is strictly focused on developing an understanding of the Qur’an in Arabic. I find the teacher to be very responsive and to have a great teaching style that is easy to follow\, even for non-native English speakers. In particular\, I also appreciate the attention to detail in the content\, one can see the questions and examples that are presented are intentional in demonstrating and differentiating nuances of Arabic that are needed to grasp the subtle meanings that are often lost in translation. I highly recommend this course!”  \n\n\n\n“This class is great for both Arabic and non-Arabic speaking people. It makes you understand the Qur’an more and more\, and it also is a refresher.”  \n\n\n\n“This is a really useful class to start the journey of learning Arabic. The class was very interactive\, and I was able to learn the content without ever having to go through it at home. The instructors made learning Arabic very easy and fun.”  \n\n\n\n“It was amazing how they were able to present such a complex language in a simple and digestible format.”
