Devoted to community service in the Bay Area\, he is currently the chairman of the board of NISA\, North-American Islamic Shelter for the Abused\, an organization that works towards alleviating issues related to domestic violence. He served on the Human Rights Commission for the City of San Jose for over 5 years and on the Human Relations Commission for the County of Santa Clara for one year. DESCRIPTION:Please help us spread cheer to families in need during this blessed time by donating new unwrapped gifts (in person or online) to the MCC Girl Scouts’ 4th Annual Toy Drive. \nPrior to Eid ul-Fitr ’21\, our wonderful MCC Girl Scout troops will wrap and deliver the presents to 340 children of Muslim families in the East Bay who have recently received Zakat/Sadaqa and if possible\, an additional 360 children of families who receive regular food rations from the MCC Pantry. \nThere are four ways to bring a smile to a child’s face this Eid: \n\nDrop off toys/gift cards to MCC every Saturday (through May 1st) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.\nShip to MCC via our Amazon wish list at https://mcceastbay.org/wishlist\nShip toys/gift cards from any online retailer to: MCC Girl Scouts\, 5724 W. He has translated written works of Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali and Abu Hamid al-Ghazali as well as authored numerous books and articles.

He has ijaza for the Hafs and Warsh forms of Qur’anic recitation. In 1994 and 1995\, he was awarded top prizes in the National Moroccan Tajweed competition. He is recognized for the beauty\, clarity and excellence of his recitation and is one of the Bay area’s foremost Qur’an teachers. \nAbout Nisf Sha’ban\nThe month of Shaban is the eighth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The fifteenth night of this month is known as laylatul-bara’ah (the Night of Innocence) or laylat un-nisf min Shaban (the Middle Night of Shaban or shab-e-barat). \nIt has been narrated that the Messenger of Allah\, blessings and peace be upon him\, said: “There are five nights on which dua is not rejected: the first night of Rajab\, the fifteenth night of Sha‘ban\, Thursday night\, the night before Eid al Fitr and the night before Eid al Nahr (al Adha).” (al Suyuti) \nLocally\, for those who follow moonsighting\, the 15th night of Shaban is Sunday night (March 28). This is a special night for making dua and other acts of worship.
