DESCRIPTION:*Class canceled due to minimum student threshold not reached* \n\n\n\nFor high schoolers and up who can read basic Arabic\, join two seasoned Arabic instructors over 12 weeks this Fall to learn Qur’anic Arabic using grammar\, pronunciation\, exercises\, and linguistics.  \n\n\n\nThis is an excellent twice-weekly class for students – beginners to advanced – who want to gain an understanding of reading the Qur’an\, Hadith\, and Islamic Sciences in Arabic. \n\n\n\nSept. 13 to December 20 | Mondays & Wednesdays | 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. | $500/student for 12 weeks | Ages 15+ (high schoolers welcome) \n\n\n\nThe session is offered as an in-person or online Zoom class with Ustadh Farid Dingle (males) and Ustadha Umm Mikal (females).  \n\n\n\nRegister at mcceastbay.org/access \n\n\n\nOne of the best ways to nurture your iman is to personally be able to read the Qur’an\, Hadith\, and the Islamic sciences in their original script. After learning Arabic\, he traveled to Jordan\, where he lived for 13 years. Farid studied Fiqh\, Arabic grammar and rhetoric\, Arabic poetry\, Hadith\, Tafsir\, and Theology. Farid holds a BA in Arabic Language and Literature\, a post-graduate certificate in Shafi’i fiqh\, and a CIFE in Islamic Finance. Among his most influential teachers are Shaykh Ali Hani\, Shaykh Hamza Karamali\, Dr Amjad Rasheed (head of the faculty of Shafi’i Fiqh\, WISE University\, Jordan)\, Dr. Ahmad Hasanat (the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Fatwa of Jordan)\, Dr Ali Zinou\, Dr. Ahmad Snobar\, Dr. Hamza Bakri\, Shaykh Akram AbdulWahhab\, Shaykh Abdul Malik al-Saadi\, and Professor Muhammad Awwad (student of the great Mahmoud Shakir). Farid lives with his family in Brentwood\, California\, where he is Dean of Islamic studies at Hikmah Islamic Co-op. \n\n\n\nUstadha Umm Mikal: \n\n\n\nUstadha Umm Mikal graduated from UCLA with a BA in Political Science and a minor in Arabic & Islamic Studies. She continued her studies in Arabic in Amman\, Jordan\, where she studied\, worked\, and taught at Qasid Institute. At Qasid\, she focused on Classical Arabic\, going through the classical primer of Matn al-Ajurumiyya\, details of Sarf\, and venturing into the world of Balagha. She also attended local Arabic lessons taught by various scholars\, including the venerable tafsir scholar Sheikh Ali Hani. She teaches Arabic privately and studies Tafsir with Ustadha Khadija Abrash and Fiqh with Sheikh Qays Arthur. SUMMARY:Alalusi Foundation Tables @ Jumu'ahs
DESCRIPTION:A heavy earthquake recently struck Morocco. Nearly 3\,000 are dead\, and towns and villages have been flattened after this massive earthquake ripped through Morocco. \n\n\n\nQari Amar Bellaha and his family – native Morrocons – will fundraise at the three Jumu’ah services at MCC. The funds are being sent via the Alalusi Foundation to supply tents for earthquake survivors. You can also donate at any MCC foyer kiosk or online at HTTP://mcceastbay.org/morocco \n\n\n\nMCC covers all credit card processing fees\, so 100 percent of the donation goes to relief efforts. \n\n\n\nMCC is supporting Qari Amar’s efforts to raise funds for his home country’s relief efforts\, which are going through the Alalusi Foundation. \n\n\n\nSisters with the Tri-Valley Muslim Indonesian Association will also sell flower bouquets in the foyer\, with 100 percent of proceeds going to relief efforts. \n\n\n\nQuestions? events@mcceastbay.org

He also teaches Islamic Studies at ILM Tree and he serves as Convert Care Coordinator for Ta’leef Collective. “I want people to feel the true beauty of Islam when they encounter Ta’leef. Was not our Prophet (upon him peace and blessings) the radiant embodiment of outer and inner beauty? One who saw him was in awe\, and one who knew him fell in love. I hope Taleef translates that experiential beauty to a relevant American context while honoring the ethos and principles of the rich Islamic tradition.” Ustadh Mahdy Amine was born and raised in Chicago. Attending Universal School\, he served as captain of the high school basketball team\, then graduated from Loyola University Chicago at the age of 19 with a double bachelor in economics and political science\, and after that from the University of Minnesota School of Law-all while serving as President of the Muslim Students Association at each respective institution. Concurrent with his studies and work\, Mahdy helped found CAIR Chicago\, has been teaching for nearly 20 years\, and served as a member of the band Noorification\, which released two albums\, and four music videos\, and performed at over 100 national and international venues. Mahdy is married\, has three little girls\, and is blessed to be a survivor. In 2012\, Mahdy resigned from his job as Corporate Counsel for Dell Corporation to attend Zaytuna College\, the first-ever accredited Muslim liberal arts college in the US\, graduating with the first class in 2014. He then visited and studied briefly in Tarim\, Yemen. He has successfully led end-to-end business transformation projects\, including strategic initiatives\, operational improvements\, change management\, and cultural change. He attained Master Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma and Master Trainer in Change Management. Sidi Masoud is a community member\, a scientist by profession\, and MCC Sunday School Quranic instructor. He spends his days coaching executives to improve problem-solving to bring new products to the market. He has studied Arabic and Quran with many teachers\, including scholars from the Bay. In his free time\, he tackles the Bay Area mountains with his bike and fellow Muslim biking group. \n\n\n\nHafiz Abdullah Ayyaz memorized the Holy Quran at the age of 15 and holds a bachelors degree in Finance from Cal State East bay. For the past several years\, he has taken the lead in performing Salat Al Taraweeh and teaching the Quranic recitation. He remains devoted to his spiritual growth and continues to study the sacred sciences under the guidance of his sheikh Dr. Muhammad Ahmed Qadri. She converted to Islam more than 20 years ago after being a Youth Ambassador to Morrocco and Senegal. There she developed a thirst for knowledge that would cause her to sit at the feet and learn from some of the top Islamic Scholars of our time. After participating in several circles of knowledge in the US\, Ieasha pursued religious studies abroad. She studied Arabic and Quran at the Fajr Institute in Cairo\, Egypt. Later\, she moved to Hadramaut\, Yemen\, and enrolled in Dar al Zahra\, an Islamic University for Women. There she studied Aqeedah\, Quran\, Hadith\, Arabic\, Jurisprudence (Fiqh)\, Islamic law\, Purification of the Heart\, and other religious-related learning. She has received several scholarly licenses (ijaza). The work that she is most committed to and enjoys has been the development of Islamic programming\, Islamic Studies curriculum\, and Rites of Passage programs for youth and adults. The majority of her life has been spent as an educator and activist. She is most passionate about combining Islamic studies\, cultural art\, activism\, and service to train leaders to rise above whatever challenges stand in their way and that of the community they serve. In addition to her full-time work\, she is the co-founder and Executive Director of Barakah INC\, an organization committed to training Muslim women in traditional Islamic sciences with a focus on modern application. Sister Ieasha is recently known for participating in the National Women’s March and the courses she teaches on traditional knowledge\, the challenges of race and gender in the Muslim community\, and Spirituality. Ieasha Prime is a proud wife and mother of three children. \n\n\n\nUstadha Dr. Rania Awaad\, M.D.\, is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Stanford University School of Medicine. She is the Director of the Muslim Mental Health Lab and Wellness Program and the Director of the Diversity Clinic. She pursued her psychiatric residency training at Stanford and completed a postdoctoral clinical research fellowship with the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Her research and clinical work are focused on the mental health needs of Muslims. Her courses at Stanford range from teaching a pioneering study on Islamic Psychology\, instructing medical students and residents on implicit bias\, and integrating culture and religion into medical care to teaching undergraduate and graduate students the psychology of xenophobia. Her most recent academic publications include an edited volume on “Islamophobia and Psychiatry” (Springer\, 2019)\, Islamic Psychology (Routledge\, 2020)\, and an upcoming text on Muslim Mental Health. She has also produced a toolkit\, fact sheet\, and CME course and is now editing a clinical textbook on Muslim mental health for the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Awaad is particularly passionate about uncovering the historical roots of mental health care in the Islamic intellectual heritage. Through her outreach work at Stanford\, she is also the Clinical Director of the San Francisco Bay Area branches of the Khalil Center\, a spiritual wellness center pioneering the application of traditional Islamic spiritual healing methods to modern clinical psychology. She has been the recipient of several awards and grants for her work. Before studying medicine\, she pursued classical Islamic studies in Damascus\, Syria\, and holds certifications (ijaza) in the Qur’an\, Islamic Law\, and other branches of the Islamic Sciences. Dr. Awaad has also served as the first female Professor of Islamic Law at Zaytuna College\, a Muslim Liberal Arts College in Berkeley\, CA\, where she taught courses on Shafi’i Fiqh and Women’s Fiqh and Qur’anic sciences for nearly a decade. In addition\, she serves as the Director of The Rahmah Foundation\, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating Muslim women and girls. Thereafter\, she continued her Arabic and Qur’anic studies in Damascus\, Syria where she obtained an ijāzah in Tajwīd of the Ḥafṣ recitation from the late eminent Syrian scholar\, Shaykh Ḥasan al-Kurdī. \n\n\n\nIn 2005\, Ustadha Shamira taught Hanafi fiqh for women at the Zaytuna Institute in California and since then has taught various Islamic sciences in venues across North America. She converted to Islam more than 20 years ago after being a Youth Ambassador to Morrocco and Senegal. There she developed a thirst for knowledge that would cause her to sit at the feet and learn from some of the top Islamic Scholars of our time. After participating in several circles of knowledge in the US\, Ieasha pursued religious studies abroad. She studied Arabic and Quran at the Fajr Institute in Cairo\, Egypt. Later\, she moved to Hadramaut\, Yemen\, and enrolled in Dar al Zahra\, an Islamic University for Women. There she studied Aqeedah\, Quran\, Hadith\, Arabic\, Jurisprudence (Fiqh)\, Islamic law\, Purification of the Heart\, and other religious-related learning. She has received several scholarly licenses (ijaza). The work that she is most committed to and enjoys has been the development of Islamic programming\, Islamic Studies curriculum\, and Rites of Passage programs for youth and adults. The majority of her life has been spent as an educator and activist. She is most passionate about combining Islamic studies\, cultural art\, activism\, and service to train leaders to rise above whatever challenges stand in their way and that of the community they serve. In addition to her full-time work\, she is the co-founder and Executive Director of Barakah INC\, an organization committed to training Muslim women in traditional Islamic sciences with a focus on modern application. Sister Ieasha is recently known for participating in the National Women’s March and the courses she teaches on traditional knowledge\, the challenges of race and gender in the Muslim community\, and Spirituality. Ieasha Prime is a proud wife and mother of three children.
