The registration cost is nominal\, designed to hold community members accountable for the sponsored food at this special annual Iftar event. \n\n\n\nHere are also ten acts to do in the blessed days of Dhul Hijjah. More about these sacred ten days. \n\n\n\nDeeds of the Day of Arafah \n\n\n\nThe Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Fasting the day of Arafah expiates the sins of two years: the past one and the coming one.” (Muslim). So\, don’t miss the reward of fasting it\, and join the community iftars at Masjid Annoor and the Qur’an Center on that day. \n\n\n\nAlso\, increase your dhikr\, recitation of the Qur’an\, good deeds\, and duas before the morning of Eid. Don’t forget to include in your duaas your family\, friends\, relatives\, neighbors\, MCC community\, and the wider Ummah\, and make a special dua for our brothers in Gaza/Palestine on this special day. \n\n\nhttps://youtu.be/Lx4aHJeOews?si=NvuEESL67dOF-Xsd\n\n\n  \n\n  \n\nThings to Do on the Day of Arafah\n\n\n\n1. Fasting on the Day of Arafah \nThe Day of Arafah fasting is highly encouraged and recommended for those not going on Hajj. \n\n\n\n “Fasting on the Day of Arafah expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year.” (Muslim) \n\n\n\n2. Du’aa of Arafah The Prophet Muhammad\, peace be upon him\, said of the Day of Arafah dua: \n\n\n\n “The most excellent dua is the dua on the Day of Arafah\, and the best of what I and the prophets before me have said is “There is nothing that deserves to be worshipped in truth except Allah; he is Alone and has no partner\, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise\, and He is All-Powerful over all things.'” (Muwatta) \n\n لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له ، له الملك ، وله الحمد ، وهو على كل شيء قدير \n\n\n\n3. Making Tahleel\, Takbeer\, Tahmeed and Tasbeeh It is a Sunnah of our Prophet (PBUH) to recite the Tahleel\, Takbeer\, and Tahmeed as many times as possible on the day of Arafah and also on the days of Tashreeq (11th\, 12th\, and 13th of Dhul Hijjah). \n\n\n\n\n\n\nTahleel is to say “Laa ilaaha il-lal-laah”\nTakbeer is to say “Allahu Akbar”\nTahmeed is to say “Alhamdulillaah”\nTasbeeh is to say “Subhanallaah”\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n 4. Seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: \n\n “On this day\, Allah\, the most Exalted\, descends to the nearest heaven\, and He is proud of His servants on the earth and says to those in heavens\, look at My servants\, they have come from far and near\, with hair dishevelled and faces covered with dust\, to seek my Mercy. Even if their sins are as much the sand or the froth of the sea\, I shall forgive them.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nQuestions? events@mcceastbay.org

Some scholars may have viewed it as obligatory. However\, most see it as a voluntary (sunnah/mustahab) act. For those who wish to do Qurbani\, it is mustahab (or voluntary sunnah) to avoid cutting hair and nails until the Qurbani is slaughtered. However\, if you cut any hair or nails\, your Qurbani is accepted and does not affect the validity. \n\n\n\nDeeds of the Day of Arafah \n\n\n\nThe Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Fasting the day of Arafah expiates the sins of two years: the past one and the coming one.” (Muslim). The sighting of the moon determines the start and end of Ramadan and Eid. \nAccording to the regional moonsighting\, Eid Al Adha ’24 will be celebrated on Friday\, June 6. MCC follows the traditional moon-sighting method\, which relies on regional\, verifiable naked-eye sightings of the new crescent moon to determine the start of all Hijri months. Please see this video to understand this practice. MCC honors the variation at the beginning of each Islamic month based on the new moon being sighted on different days in different places\, and some communities do moon calculations. All are valid. Please observe with your community. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMCC follows the traditional moon-sighting method\, which relies on regional\, verifiable naked-eye sightings of the new crescent moon to determine the start of all Hijri months. SUMMARY:Miraaj Academy Tables @ MCC Jumu'ahs
DESCRIPTION:Shaykh Hamzah Abdul-Malik founded Miraaj Academy in 2017. Learn about how you can support their work to help provide scholarships for zakat-eligible Imams in training. \nA Dream Deferred: Transforming Young Lives Today\nFounded in 2017\, our academy is the realization of Imam Hamzah Abdul-Malik’s dream that began over two decades ago. Our founder\, a young teenager at the time\, aspired to win the Moroccan Qur’an recitation competition and use the prize – acres of land – to establish a Qur’an school for young American Muslims. Years later\, while reciting Qur’an at Muhammad Ali’s memorial\, Imam Hamzah Abdul-Malik was inspired to create a leadership academy where young Muslim boys could learn to apply the teachings of the Qur’an in their lives.  Miraaj Academy is committed to nurturing the hearts and minds of young Muslims\, providing them with the tools they need to succeed in all aspects of their lives Insha Allah. \nOur Mission\nAt Miraaj Academy\, we are committed to nurturing and guiding the next generation of young Muslims to become the torchbearers of their faith\, future scholars\, and leaders in their communities Insha Allah. As a dedicated institution to Islamic education in America\, we embrace the weighty yet fulfilling task of fostering an environment that instills deep-rooted traditional Islamic values and teaches student how to put their faith into practice through serving their community. \nInspired by Prophet Muhammad’s (SA) spiritual journey\, our mission is to seamlessly blend Islamic teachings with academic excellence\, guiding our youth towards virtuous\, knowledgeable\, and responsible adulthood. Through our holistic approach\, rooted in the fusion of Eastern and Western educational philosophies\, we foster growth and excellence in our students\, emphasizing mastery\, understanding\, teaching\, and implementation of essential sciences and skills. \nOur Vision\nOur vision at Miraaj Academy is to be recognized as a premier educational institution that embodies excellence in Islamic education and academic achievement. We aspire to cultivate a dynamic learning environment where students are inspired to explore their faith\, engage with diverse perspectives\, and pursue intellectual curiosity. \nGuided by the principles of Prophet Muhammad’s spiritual journey\, we envision a future where our graduates emerge as compassionate leaders\, empowered with the knowledge\, skills\, and moral fortitude to positively impact their communities and contribute to the betterment of society InSha Allah.
