At an early age\, he attended halaqas on Quranic recitation\, Tajweed\, Hadith\, and Aqida under prominent Syrian scholars\, including Dr. Mohammed Rateb al-Nabulsi and Sheikh Bassam Ajek of the Abu Nour Islamic Institute. After completing his undergraduate studies in engineering\, Mohammad moved to the United States in pursuit of a graduate degree. He has continued his Islamic studies abroad—focusing on the blessed Seerah\, Hadith collections\, and Hadith terminology—and has earned certificates under scholars such as Sheikh Ghazwan Shurbaji and Sayydi Sheikh Samer Alnass\, and currently studying Hanafi Fiqh with Ustadh Tarif Arabi.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a weekly book club and discussion group as we collectively strive to purify our hearts and grow closer to Allah through understanding and treating the spiritual diseases that afflict us all. We will read and reflect on Hamza Yusuf’s translation and commentary of Imam Mawlud’s classical work\, Purification of the Heart: Signs\, Symptoms\, and Cures of the Spiritual Diseases of the Heart. \nEach session will cover one chapter\, including group discussions and reflections on heart diseases and their treatments. \nWhile we encourage consistent attendance for shared reflection and continuity\, each session is self-contained\, and participants are welcome to drop in even if they cannot commit to attending every week. Whether you’re coming with friends\, family\, or on your own\, your time and effort will go a long way in supporting underprivileged communities. \nAll are welcome—come ready to serve\, connect\, and make a difference. \nSaturday\, June 13th | 12:30 p.m. -3:30 p.m. | Alameda County Community Food Bank (7900 Edgewater Dr. Oakland\, CA 94621) | Register at mcceastbay.org/food-bank2 | In-person only \n  \nBEFORE YOU ARRIVE: \n\nOrganizing carpools is highly recommended.\nShoes that cover your entire foot are required\, preferably sneakers or boots (no crocs!). \nAppropriate clothing should be worn for your volunteer shift – limited jewelry\, no perfume/cologne\, and comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dirty.\nDressing in layers is recommended since our warehouse is not climate-controlled. This also means that the air quality outside will affect the air quality in the warehouse – please be aware of this if you have respiratory sensitivities. \nVolunteers are encouraged to bring a pair of sturdy\, reusable work gloves.\nYouth (ages 10-17) must have the Waiver Form signed by a parent/legal guardian – if it wasn’t completed during the sign-up process\, it can be printed here and brought to the shift. One adult volunteer must be present for every five youths.\n\nDAY-OF INSTRUCTIONS: \n\nDO NOT volunteer if you’re experiencing any signs of illness.\nPlan to arrive around 10 minutes before the shift begins for check-in.\nPack a lunch or snacks!
