SUMMARY:Monthly Men's Hike
DESCRIPTION:For Brothers! Join a brotherhood that hikes through life’s ups and downs\, finding strength and community in the great outdoors.  \nOur Monthly MCC Brothers Hike caters to various fitness levels and explores East Bay’s serene landscapes. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking to start\, we welcome you to share in this journey of fellowship and discovery.\n\nSaturday\, February 7 | 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. | Lake Chabot Regional Park | No children\, please (teenage boys\, okay) | RSVP at mcceastbay.org/brothers-hike \nIf brothers want to walk around more\, they can do it depending on their interests/time. The hike will be canceled if there are insufficient RSVPs\, depending on the weather. \n\nWhen: February 7\, 2026\nTime:  8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Please arrive early to park and find the group. The group can wait until 8:10 a.m.\, and then start the hike. Please be on time since we cannot hold the group.\nCarpool: We highly recommend carpooling. No carpool from MCC is available for this hike. \nParking: $5\nMeeting Point: Lake Chabot\nTrail: Lake Chabot Loop\nDistance: Around 8.7 miles.\nDifficulty: Moderate.\nMisc: Pack a snack and water for yourself. Wear hiking shoes if possible. Bring a small breakfast/ Lunch sandwich or something to eat. Carry enough water\, a hat\, and a light jacket. Please download the All Trails map (free version) if you decide to return in the middle of the hike. Please remember that we cannot hold the group\, so we request that you arrive on time. \nFor future hikes\, please subscribe to the MCC newsletter and add your phone number to the Men’s Hiking WhatsApp group. \nPlease wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes\, carry a water bottle\, a small snack\, a hat\, sunglasses\, and hiking poles if you have any.  \nQuestions? hiking@mcceastbay.org  \nAbout this trail: \nThis is a beautiful hiking area with moderately steep trails and lovely views of the water. If desired\, you can avoid a large portion of the paved East Shore Trail by taking the southern Cameron Loop after crossing the Honker Bay bridge\, Ten Hills Trail\, and Indian Cove Trail\, leaving a very short paved section to the Marina. \nShade is provided by oaks\, bay laurel\, willow\, and cottonwood trees. Poison oak is plentiful\, as well as vetch\, blackberries\, and blue-eyed grass. A few interpretive panels about the dam’s history are towards the end of this 2-mile route. Benches are scattered throughout\, although most have a steep grade to reach them. \nStairs are present along this route.
