About Hakim Salim Khan
Hakim Salim’s holistic approach to medicine is based on synthesis of Unani-Tibb, traditional herbal medicine, nutrition, nafsiyat (transpersonal psychotherapy), and iridology. His first teacher and inspiration to study Tibb was Shabeer Hussain Saahib, and he eventually studied Tibb-e-Akbar under Mawlana Nisaar Ahmed. He trained in herbal medicine and osteopathy with the General Council and Register of Consultant Medical Herbalists and studied iridology and nutrition with Dr. Bernard C. Jensen.

His unique work in Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) and Unani Tibb has been widely acknowledged in the United Kingdom. He was featured in a BBC documentary about traditional herbal medicine, and the British Science Museum in London has a display, titled “The Unani Tibb Tradition,” that focuses on his work.

He established the Mohsin Clinic in Leicester (UK) in 1978 where he continues to see patients until this day. He is also the principal of the College of Medicine and Healing Arts, an institution that trains future practitioners in natural medicine. He is passionately devoted to helping his patients and students through natural medicine and healing.

From the organizer:

Parents and Children in the Post-Industrial Age

Every person who wants or who has children wishes for them to be balanced and healthy. However, we live in a post-industrial age with many challenges.

Information technology has become increasingly dominant so that people are overloaded with information. There is a worldwide epidemic of chronic ‘lifestyle’ diseases which claim more lives than any other cause, and diminish abilities, time, money and strength from people of all ages, including children and young people.

In particular, there is a rapid rise of psychological imbalances and diseases. An unprecedented number of children and adults have become dependent on drugs (legally prescribed drugs as well as substance abuse) mostly for the purposes of numbing anxiety and depression. Crime and delinquency in young people are rising problems in many communities across the world.

The Wholesome Parenthood weekend programme offers conscientious individuals safe and effective knowledge and skills to help face these problems.

Raising Children to be Balanced and Healthy

This programme will help equip individuals, couples and families with knowledge, skills and resources towards fulfilling their roles in ways that help to bring up balanced and healthy children.
