This training is sponsored by the MCC East Bay, CAIR-SFBA, and Malikah.
Join us for an empowering women’s self-defense training. This class is taught by Malikah’s Bay Area Director and self-defense instructor, Haleema Bharoocha.
Malikah is a grassroots movement that facilitates opportunities for women to come together in sisterhood, to engage in critical reflection and education, to build habits of self-love, and to cultivate action-oriented communities prepared with the tools and skills to clap-back.
It’s our fundamental human right to exist in the world free from violence. As we work to dismantle systems that undermine the security and progression of women, we also want to provide women with the skills to de-escalate violent situations. Self-defense training is one piece of empowering women to feel safe and secure. All of our classes cover basic blocks, strikes, pressure points, and verbal de-escalation. With every self-defense technique, we deconstruct the notion that our bodies are not our own. With every movement, we begin a healing process with our bodies, one where we finally have full control over our security and space.
