Please refer to all trails map to see hike difficulty\, If you are first time hiker it might be little difficult.\n\nMisc: Please wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes\, carry enough water\, small snack\, hat\, sunglasses and hiking poles if you have.\n\nRSVP: Message Hike Leader Aparna Khan at  hiking@mcceastbay.org with your name & cell phone number by Friday\, November 5 to RSVP.\n\nPlease come prepared with water\, snack and hiking/running shoes. \nOn the day of the hike\, if you have trouble finding the group\, please call or text Hike Leader Sr. Aparna Khan at (408) 480-6584. Please remember that we cannot hold all the group so we request you to please be on time. \nFor future hikes\, please subscribe to the MCC newsletter and/or add your phone number to the Women’s Hiking WhatsUp group. \nPlease wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes\, carry water bottle\, small snack\, hat\, sunglasses and hiking poles if you have. \nMission Peak from Ohlone College is a 7.3 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Fremont\, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as difficult. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail. \nQuestions? hiking@mcceastbay.org \n\nPark Features: Mission Peak gets throngs of hikers but only savvy trekkers take this route to the summit — an eight-mile out-and-back that stretches out the 2\,000-foot ascent to the summit (the most-popular route ascends a similar height in a 5.2-mile out-and-back). This gradual route is a less-strenuous option for hiking to the top of the popular East Bay peak. It starts from the parking lot at Ohlone College along Mission Boulevard in Fremont\, California. Just one trail — the aptly named Peak Trail — curves and climbs its way to the 2\,517-foot summit of Mission Peak. (From the parking lot\, look for a sign pointing to Ohlone Trail). Abundant parking at Ohlone College on the weekend makes this trailhead a welcome alternative to the Stanford Avenue entrance which fills quickly. There’s also a bit more shade on this route compared to other trails to the summit. Impressive views of the Diablo Range and San Francisco Bay open up on the way up. Don’t be surprised if you see deer and coyotes the ground and raptors and vultures soaring overhead. Best time to go: Springtime when the hills are green and the wildflowers are blooming. Winter’s the next-best time\, especially if the peak gets a dusting of snow. Fall is OK; summer’s too hot during the day\, but many hikers hit the summit at sunset and hike down after dark (best done under a full moon). NO bikes are allowed on this trail. Parking Fee: $4 \n\nPhotos from September 4\, 2021 hike to Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park

The trail is primarily used for hiking\, running\, and nature trips. \nQuestions? hiking@mcceastbay.org \n\nPark Features: Deep in a valley framed by oak-covered hills\, with sailboats and sailboards skimming over its waters\, Del Valle is like a lakeside resort only 10 miles south of Livermore. 5\,000 acre Del Valle Regional Park features two swim beaches\, a boat launch\, family and group camping (by reservation) and excellent\, stocked fishing. Trail Highlights: This hike around the northern part of the lake is removed from the busy swim beaches in the southern part of the lake; enjoy the wilderness feel and explore a part of Del Valle you may not have seen before. The contrast in scenery from the ridge of East Shore Trail and the lakeside Heron Bay Trail provides a diverse recreational experience. This hike features several steep climbs and descents and is recommended for those with a good level of fitness. There is a drinking fountain but no restrooms at the trailhead. Be sure to carry plenty of water on your hike. Trail Directions: Start along the trail from the Arroyo Road Staging Area\, going up the large hill. Go left to start the East Shore Trail. Continue on East Shore Trail\, avoiding four turnoffs for the Heron Bay Trail; take the fifth turn off\, turning right onto Heron Bay Trail. Complete the first Heron Bay loop and take a left to connect back with East Shore Trail. Go left at the next turnoff for Heron Bay Trail and complete a small loop back to East Shore Trail again; take East Shore a very short distance and turn left again for the last section of Heron Bay Trail. Make a left at the last intersection with East Shore Trail and follow it back down the large hill and to the staging area. \n\nPhotos from September 4\, 2021 hike to Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park

The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail. See here: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/thermalito-ridgeline-oak-tree-trail–2 \n\nLength: 6.2 mi\nElevation gain: 1\,325 ft.\nRoute type: Loop\nAbout The Park\nThis beautiful 5\,271-acre parkland is on the oak-covered ridge overlooking Pleasanton and the Livermore Valley from the west. It is planned as the core of a Ridgelands Regional Park to be acquired over a period of many years. Parkland development has been intentionally limited to preserve the pastoral atmosphere. \nThe park occupies Pleasanton Ridge and beyond. To the northwest it spills down off Pleasanton Ridge into upper Kilkare Canyon\, where it continues up onto Sunol Ridge\, finally terminating at its westernmost corner in Stoneybrook Canyon. Inside the park\, elevations exceed 1\,600 feet. \n\nPark Activities\nFrom the main staging area on Foothill Road you can follow a multi-purpose trail system\, which accommodates hikers\, equestrians\, and bicyclists\, provides canyon views and ridge-top vistas\, and access to remote\, deep-canyon streams. \nPark Accessibility\nThere are one paved disabled parking and one wheelchair accessible portable toilet in the Foothill staging area. The two old redwood type drinking fountains would allow a wheelchair to get under but there is no smooth surface under these facilities. The park will install an upgraded fountain this summer for wheelchair users in an area by the disabled parking. There is one picnic table that can accommodate two wheelchairs and is also next to the disabled parking. The trails in the park are all multi-use dirt trails so they are more suitable for visitors who use electric wheelchair. \nTrail Accessibility Report\nOak Tree Trail: Download PDF | Download MS Word \nTo Reach The Park\nFrom I-680 in Pleasanton\, exit at Castlewood Drive and go west. Turn left (south) onto Foothill Road\, towards the town of Sunol. The Foothill Staging Area is about two miles from Castlewood Drive\, on the right. \n\nPublic transit information\n\nTransit & Trails: Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park (transit\, biking\, and walking directions) \nTrail Map\nClick the map image below to see an enlarged version. \n \n\n
