Overview
The Muslim Community Center East Bay (MCC East Bay) seeks a dedicated and dynamic Youth Services Coordinator (YSC) to develop, promote, and manage engaging youth programs serving students from late elementary through early college age. The YSC will lead the strategic vision and execution of impactful programming that fosters spiritual, social, and character development in a safe, inclusive, and faith-centered environment.
This position requires creativity, initiative, and a passion for empowering youth through Islamic education, mentorship, and community engagement. It also requires the ability to inspire, lead, and manage a team of sub-group leads.
Youth Engagement Structure
The YSC will be responsible for implementing consistent programming across age groups as outlined below:

Budget & Reporting
Many programs will follow a “pay-to-enroll” model. The YSC will design appropriate pricing, request funding, and manage a program budget as guided by the MCC Youth Committee lead.
The Youth Committee anticipates requesting $25,000 annually (approximately $2,000 per month) from the Board of Directors to cover key expenses, including Halaqa leaders’ stipends, mentor gifts, food, and venue rentals. Monthly budget and progress reports must be submitted to the MCC Board and Finance Committee.
Vision Alignment
The Youth Services Coordinator must align their work with MCC East Bay’s vision and mission as stated in the organization’s constitution. This role operates under the guidance of the MCC Youth Committee Lead and collaborates closely with other staff and volunteers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Background in Islamic studies or Islamic education
- Experience in planning and organizing religious, sports, family, and social programs
- Demonstrated experience in community organizing or youth development
- Proven track record of increasing leadership responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive role model and faith mentor for MCC youth.
- Design, plan, and lead youth programs that balance religious, social, and character development.
- Build rapport with youth and foster a sense of belonging and purpose.
- Mentor and empower youth leaders and volunteers.
- Collaborate with MCC’s Friday Night Navigators program.
- Develop annual goals and a detailed programming calendar.
- Coordinate logistics for events, overnights, sports, trips, and service activities.
- Maintain regular communication with youth and parents.
- Track attendance, feedback, safety documentation, and participant records.
- Collaborate with local high school and college MSAs, other masajid, and community leaders.
- Submit monthly program and budget reports to the Youth Committee and Board.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive Youth Program Handbook.
- Recruit, train, and supervise youth volunteers.
