Youth Listening Session & Meet & Greet with New MCC Youth Leaders

Welcome our two new youth leaders: Maryam Awwal & Hafiz Zaid Khanani.
MCC holds our precious future in its walls.
These two dynamic leaders will curate practical and meaningful programming for our teens and families in the coming weeks.
We begin with two meet-and-greet sessions in which these youth leaders listen to what youth and parents of children want so that they can hit the ground running.

- Teen Only Town Hall: 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, October 28 (high schoolers only; pizza provided)

Maryam Awwal is a second-year Master of Arts student at Zaytuna College studying Islamic law and legal theory. She has a master’s in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute and is currently pursuing associateships in Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling.
She also has a BA in Liberal Arts & Islamic Studies from Zaytuna College and a BA in Economics from UC Davis.
Her hopes after graduating are to further her education in various sacred Islamic sciences and to support the development of sound Muslim communities in the West.
Zaid Khanani is a Marriage and Family Therapy trainee with the City of Fremont, Youth and Family Services. He graduated from Zaytuna College and completed his Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at the Wright Institute. Hafiz Zaid continues his formal Islamic Studies with local teachers and scholars overseas. He is a former Islamic Studies teacher at Northstar Islamic School and teaches numerous online classes.
