MCC-SRVIC Refugee Team Attends the Afghan Refugee California Satewide Conference

This week, MCC’s Community Service team attended the two-day California Statewide Conference in Sacramento, focusing on Strengthening Partnerships and Shaping the Future for Afghan Refugees. MCC has received two grants from CDSS and CAIR to support newly arrived Afghans in developing the skills necessary to succeed in their new homeland.

Through the MCC-SRVIC Refugee services, over 347 refugees, including 82 families with an average of 3 children per family, are served in weekly camps that focus on employment skills for men and women, parenting classes for mothers and fathers, Early Childhood Education (ECE) programs, and digital inclusion for school-age children.

95% of participants reported a positive impact on their lives. MCC-SRVIC Refugee Team will host the next camps in July and December 2025.
