INTERN POSITIONS:
Coordinators/Trainers for New Afghan American Youth Hackathon – Summer 2023
MCC East Bay received a grant from CAIR to run a hackathon program for Afghan Refugee Youth. We are looking for 3 to 4 college students or young professionals to help us with this project.
Program: 12 weeks online coding class culminating in a weekend Hackathon Competition at the Muslim Community Center (MCC) in Pleasanton
Staff/Trainers Required: 2-3 coding proficient young adults/college students (preferably Farsi/Dari and/or Pashto-speaking) committing two hours per week for 11 weeks to coach newly arrived Afghan youth in computing skills.
Resource: Coding curriculum [app API development (Cocos2d (for iOS) or Cocos2d-x, Android NDK), game development, website development, ?]
Skill Set:

Coding skills in app development, game development, or website development

Language proficiency in English and Dari or Pashto

Evaluation the coding curriculum in the market and recommend to the team for purchase and use the coding program/course
Commitment:

Ability to commit to 12 weeks, 2 hours per week in summer, to coach over Zoom. It could be a weeknight evening of two hours, say from 7-9 pm, or Saturday, 10 am- 12 pm or 2-4 pm. It would be subject to the availability of the trainers/facilitators.

Commit to attending the hackathon on August 12, 2023, in MCC from 9.30 am – 5 pm

The position will be titled interns, and a stipend will be provided
