**As we ease out of this pandemic and return our children to the community center this year, we are planning inshaAllah to go full throttle again on MCC’s popular youth activities. This is the latest update: https://mcceastbay.org/youth-update

The information below is from pre-pandemic.

_______________

In his capacity as Youth Director, Shaykh Rami Nsour holds bi-monthly office hours (second & fourth Sundays) in 30-minute increments.

These spiritual counseling sessions are a free service to youth (ages 14-23) & parents of youth who reside in the East Bay. We ask that South Bay families go through the MCA Bay Area.

Spiritual Counseling is a personal exploration and may lead to major changes in you and/or your child’s life perspective and decisions.

How Does This work?

  1. Complete the Spiritual Counseling Intake Form
  2. Shaykh Rami Nsour reviews your answers.
  3. If Shaykh Rami feels you and/or your parents would benefit from spiritual counseling, he will clear you for an appointment.
  4. Appointments are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Sunday each month. You will schedule an appointment time.
  5. Arrive 5 minutes prior to your 30-minute session. The session is in the private “Religious Office” near the main MCC Prayer Hall.

Fall ’19 Sessions: Shaykh Rami holds 30-minute spiritual counseling sessions in 30-minute increments bi-monthly on the second & fourth Sunday. After being cleared for an appointment, you may schedule your appointment from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on September 15 or 29, October 13 or 27, November 10 or 24, and December 8 or 22. At his discretion based on your intake answers, Shaykh Rami may schedule you for a phone spiritual counseling appointment on a Wednesday.

Limitations: This free service is offered only to youth ages 14 to 23 and/or their parents who reside in the East Bay. Please do not complete the intake form for marriage counseling or individual counseling. For that, MCC East Bay encourages you to seek counsel and advice from a trained Khalil Center professional at the Counseling Office housed at the MCC. You may make an appointment by calling 925-485-1786 and pressing Option 7 or at by visiting mcceastbay.org/counseling.

The MCC Youth Counseling Outreach is not a professional service. Shaykh Rami is not trained as such and does not counsel as a licensed psychologist, licensed psychiatrist, state-certified therapist, or any other type of professional mental health care provider. He will make no attempt to render a psychological evaluation or a diagnosis.

Confidentiality: Confidentiality is extremely important to us. As a legal guardian, you have a right to be involved in the spiritual counseling your child receives. We will protect the confidentiality of you and/or your child’s visit(s), but there are limitations to confidentiality that you must be aware of. Counseling is based on a trusting relationship between counselor and client. The counselor will keep information shared by the client confidential except in certain situations in which an ethical responsibility limits confidentiality. As a parent, you will be notified under the following circumstances:

  1. The child reveals information about hurting himself/herself or another person.
  2. The child or another person may be in physical danger.

As a mandatory reporter organization, the MCC reports any incidents of suspected child abuse, neglect, or molestation to the local authorities in order to protect the child(ren) involved.

Cancellation: Due to the high volume of youth & parents of youth seeking this free community service, we require that you attend your scheduled session. We understand that life comes up. If you make your appointment, please notify Shaykh Rami or cancel online on Calendy your appointment if you cannot make your scheduled session. Failure to notify Shaykh Rami will result in possible exclusion from scheduling a future appointment.

Fees: Spiritual counseling is provided free of charge to the East Bay community at large. Donations to MCC are always appreciated but never expected.
