About the Instructor
Shaykh Abdullah Waheed
Shaykh Abdullah Waheed was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. He commenced his studies at the age of ten in Toronto, Canada, where he memorized the Quran. He completed memorizing the Holy Quran by the tender age of thirteen and then went on to study in a seven-year, extensive Shariah program in Toronto, Canada. Shaykh Abdullah specialized in the Tafseer of the Quran. Shaykh Abdullah spent years studying the details and beauty of our Holy book, since understanding and mastering the language of the Holy Quran was always the primary goal. Shaykh Abdullah is a co-founder and instructor at the Miftaah Institute, serving as the Director of Islamic Affairs at the Flint Islamic Center.
The Chai Guy and 523 Southern Halal Food Truck will be stationed outside the women’s entrance. Feel free to stop by anytime from 6 p.m. onwards and enjoy your food and drink at tables outside. Please no food or drink in the Prayer Hall.
We anticipate long lines for halal soul food. Please pre-order your dinner here. At checkout, select “Order ahead” to let Br. Muhammad Hammad and his team know what time you will be picking up your meal.
If you pre-purchased a Mirchi Cafe dinner (sold out now, sorry), please pick up your meal in the MCC lobby. Our volunteers will have your name on their list. Here is a facility map.
Check-In & Seating
The masjid doors will open at 6 p.m. tomorrow . We encourage you to arrive early to ensure you get the most suitable seat in the Prayer Hall. Seating will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. We have more than 300 guests expected.
There will be a lot of information. We encourage you to bring a notebook and pen. This will be an emotional evening so maybe some tissues as well. We have set up tables on the men’s and women’s sides in the first couple of rows. The remaining rows have seating for taking notes on your lap.
Because of the length of the program, we will have chairs in the Prayer Hall. We will have floor seating available for those who want it. Overflow seating and all the congregational prayers – Asr, Maghrib and Isha – will be in the Conference Room.
You don’t need to print your e-ticket. Our volunteers will have your name on electronic check-in devices.
Livestream
We understand life happens. If something comes up, you don’t need to let us know (we will be busy running the program). Instead, join us virtually on the live stream link at http://mcceastbay.org/
This unlisted link will go live on MCC’s YouTube channel today at 6 p.m. PST, inshaAllah. Please do not share the link unless the person registers to watch live online. Ask them to register here.
Parking
After the MCC lot is full, volunteers will direct you to the park in the Pleasanton School District parking lot, next to the MCC parking lot. That lot is marked “HP” on this aerial map.
We will not have community vendors at this event. Instead, we want to support nonprofit vendors who will donate 100 percent of their profits to charity.
In the Banquet Hall, please support Asiyah’s Collection (supports widows in Afghanistan) and MECA (supporting Gaza relief).
