What does Islam teach us about creating homes rooted in love, mercy, respect, and safety?
Join us for an important conversation on building healthy Muslim families and relationships through the guidance of our Prophetic tradition. We’ll explore how we can strengthen our homes, recognize unhealthy patterns, support those who may be struggling, and create communities where individuals and families feel safe, heard, and supported.
Friday, Oct. 9 | 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. | MCC Prayer Hall | Join us in-person or watch live at mcceastbay.org/live | Refreshments provided
Featured Speakers: Imam Tahir Anwar, Ustadh Haseeb Sadat, Dr. Nilofar Sami, & TBA
Through Prophetic teachings and faith-based approaches to healing, we’ll discuss practical ways to cultivate healthier relationships and learn about resources available to support individuals and families in our community.
October is also National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, making this an important opportunity to address a difficult but often unspoken issue within our communities — and to reflect on our shared responsibility to prevent oppression and promote mercy and justice in our homes.
All MCC Friday Khutbahs on October 2 will also be dedicated to this important topic, exploring the Islamic principles of forbidding oppression and building homes rooted in mercy and compassion.
This event is hosted by MCC East Bay in partnership with SRVIC, SBIA, NISA, NARIKA, MARISTAN, & IMC-SFBA

It’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and let’s remember that Islam enjoins kindness and mercy and forbids oppression.
Domestic violence happens everywhere all the time and affects everyone. Women are the principal victims. Help us bring awareness.
During this Family Night and the four MCC Jumu’ah services, MCC will invite various local Bay Area DV organizations to have a table alongside Maristan. Our Khutbahs will also focus on raising awareness of domestic violence.
About Maristan Clinic:
MCC offers counseling in partnership with Maristan, a spiritual community wellness center that provides marriage, individual, and family counseling, premarital coaching, consultation, and a psychiatrist (medication management). Counseling fees are payable on a sliding scale.
Maristan provides outpatient mental health therapy services for individuals, couples, and families. They also offer group therapy and other programs as available. To begin therapy services, clients complete the Appointment Request Form. Once submitted, Maristan’s team follows up to complete a brief pre-screening call to better understand what the client is seeking and determine next steps.
Please note that Maristan can only provide therapy services to individuals who are physically located in California during their sessions, including telehealth sessions.
