MCC East Bay is proud to welcome a beautiful new mural to our community—a project that represents faith, service, creativity, and the spirit of giving back.

Created as an Eagle Scout Project by a member of Scouts BSA Troop 2981, the mural was designed as a meaningful way to give back to MCC East Bay, which has supported the troop throughout its journey of establishing and growing within the community.

Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is a significant accomplishment. One key requirement is for Scouts to plan, develop, and lead a service project that meaningfully benefits their community. For this Scout, that opportunity became a chance to combine two passions: art and deen.

“I love art, and it has been my favorite hobby for almost a decade,” the Scout, Aroush Shaikh, shared. “When the masjid was looking for someone to paint the mural, I jumped at the opportunity to combine my love of art with my deen.”

The mural features the names of Allah, creating a beautiful and inspiring addition to the masjid. Beyond simply beautifying the space, the mural is intended to welcome community members of all ages and create a warm environment for our youth. It also serves as a daily visual reminder to remain grounded and guided on the right path through Allah subhanahu wa ta‘ala’s infinite mercy.

For this young Eagle Scout, the project is more than a completed mural—it is an opportunity to serve the community and continue growing as a leader.

“As a high schooler, I am eager to contribute to future MCC projects,” the Scout shared. “Please don’t hesitate to reach out, and please keep me in mind for upcoming volunteer or leadership opportunities!”

We are grateful to see our youth take ownership of their community, use their talents in meaningful ways, and find opportunities to serve. May Allah accept this effort, place barakah in it, and allow this mural to inspire everyone who passes by it for years to come. Ameen.
