Please bring your prayer mat, an umbrella, and a water bottle for the grass field. MCC will provide a free shuttle service for prayers at the Rancho San Ramon Community Park and Diablo Valley College. No RSVP is needed.
MCC follows traditional moon-sighting that relies on the regional, verifiable naked-eye sighting of the new crescent moon for the start of all Hijri months. Please see this video to understand this practice. MCC honors the variation on the start of each Islamic month based on the new moon being sighted on different days in different places and some communities going on moon calculations. All are valid. Please observe with your community.
After the Eid prayer, we will have three food trucks on-site at Rancho Park: Halal Foods of Chicago, Habibz Kabob, and Mr. Softee (ice cream and drinks).
Our friends at the San Ramon Valley Islamic Center (SRVIC) will celebrate Eid on the same field on Sunday, June 16, 2024. See here.
Parking
We will have minimal parking spaces at Rancho San Ramon Community Park. Parking is available at Dougherty Station Community Center, 17011 Bollinger Canyon Road. MCC will provide a free shuttle service from/to the parking lot of Dougherty Station Community Center.
Please factor in an extra 20 minutes for parking in an overflow lot and shuttling to the prayer site. Worshipers may also choose to take a 15-minute walk from Dougherty Station Community Center.

*The takbeerat begins 15 minutes before each Eid prayer begins promptly. The sermon follows the Eid prayer. Please remember that the Khutbah (sermon) follows each prayer, so please pay attention to it. Please also fast with the community on the blessed day of Arafat on Saturday, June 15. This MCC is hosting its annual Arafat Iftar in 2024.

What is Special About the Ten Days of Dhul Hijjah?

The Messenger (PBUH) of Allah said, “There are no days during which righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (the first 10 days of Dhul HIjjah).” [Bukhari]

Ibn ‘Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (i.e., the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).” He was asked: “O Messenger of Allah, not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah?” He (PBUH) replied, “Not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah, except in case one goes forth with his life and property and does not return with either of it.” [Al-Bukhari]
It is an excellent sunnah to do Qurbani/Udhiyah to feed the poor in these times. Some scholars may have viewed it as obligatory. However, most see it as a voluntary (sunnah/mustahab) act. For those who wish to do Qurbani, it is mustahab (or voluntary sunnah) to avoid cutting hair and nails until the Qurbani is slaughtered. However, if you cut any hair or nails, your Qurbani is accepted and does not affect the validity.
Deeds of the Day of Arafah
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Fasting the day of Arafah expiates the sins of two years: the past one and the coming one.” (Muslim). So, don’t miss the reward of fasting it, and join the community iftars at Masjid Annoor and the Qur’an Center on that day.
Also, increase your dhikr, recitation of the Qur’an, good deeds, and duas before the morning of Eid. Don’t forget to include in your duaas your family, friends, relatives, neighbors, MCC community, the wider Ummah, and make a special duaa for our brothers in Gaza/Palestine on this special day.
