**ESL classes for 2021-22 at MCC have been moved to Pleasanton District Office pending full reopening of MCC in Fall 2022. See here for ESL registration.**

2020 is the year that your friend, relative or neighbor learns to speak English.

In partnership with Pleasanton Adult & Career Education, the MCC hosts year-round, free multi-level English learning courses on weekday mornings. The new session begins on January 22.

If you or someone you know would like help to learn the English language — regardless of your faith background — we can help!

We have three free ESL classes that meet each week at the MCC from August 2021 to May 2022.

Our ESL classes are not just a great place to learn English; they’re a great place to make new friends.

We meet on weekday mornings to learn and practice conversational English together. Beginner, intermediate and advanced level classes are available.

These year-round free multi-level English learning courses are offered in partnership with the Pleasanton Unified School District via its Adult and Career Education Initiative.

Register for intake testing as dates are scheduled by calling (925) 463-0616 or message adulteducation@pleasantonusd.net.

The 2019-20 ESL class schedule at the MCC runs from August 19 to May 28. The classes meet twice weekly for 2.5 hours. Attendance and participation in class is required. These classes are mixed gender classes.

MCC hosts beginner, intermediate, and advanced level classes at various times from about 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m Monday through Thursday. Students are assigned a class level based on their placement testing.

Space is limited and the classes at the MCC are open to anyone. MCC may provide complimentary childcare for congregation members with young members with sufficient interest. Please contact us at mcc-listens@mcceastbay.org.

Computer-based intake testing in reading and listening is required so that adult learners are placed at the proper level based on their current English level.

The student intake and placement test takes approximately 2.5-3.0 hours.  Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time for the test.  Students will request their class at the intake session.  Students are placed into a class at the appropriate level based on the test that they take and consultation with our staff.  Although every effort will be made to provide all students their desired class and schedule, we cannot guarantee placement in a specific class.
